brand:

fts:

specs:
3 gallon (11.8in tall, 9.8in long, 9.8in wide)
2-2.5lbs of CaribSea Inc LS
roughly 4-5lbs of semi-revived LR
aqua clear 20 HOB filter with heater in it. Not running anything in it until the cycle finishes then I'm putting in a bag of Purigen and possibly a sponge or some filter material to get debris.
hydor elite mini 50w heater
10w 50/50 Coralife Screw-in pc light......i have a 20w but it sticks out of the housing too much.

I re-did the aquascape tonight and am waiting until it clears up for pictures.

I only plan on having ricordea, and some zoas for corals. For livestock I plan on having the CUC (not decided yet) and bunch of sexy shrimp and possibly pom pom crabs

Nice start up... I saw that tank at my LFS, very unique design... You will be able to aquascape something really neat since it's so deep... Can't wait to see what you come up with.... smile.gif

i only have enough room to fully clean the front. the sides and back will all be cleaned to where the rock meets the glass. i'm okay with that
imcosmokramer
sounds good!

my CUC plan list:

2 nano conch snails from corallineadam (in tank)
1 bristle worm (in tank)
1-2 red legged hermit crabs
4 cerith snails
2 vibex nassa snails

is that okay or is that too much/little?

I'll get the rest of the CUC once the tank starts showing signs that it needs the CUC
mikeguerrero
I like your reefing skills on the rock, very good layout...

Day5:

Thought I'd test for water parameters since i had a clown die in the tank since it was super sick (probably parasite like Elf has mentioned to me)

Specific gravity from hydrometer reading: 1.023
Ammonia:0
Nitrite:0-0.25
Nitrate:0-5
pH:8.0
badfish816
cant wait to see it stocked. talk to your lfs and see if they have any stomatellas. if they do and they are cool they will give ya some for free.

are you gonna put that silver bullet in there...lol

Day 8 tested the water today.

ammonia: 0
nitrite:0
nitrate:0
pH:8.0-8.2

would it be okay to add coral to the tank or should i wait another week and test by the end of it?
pismo_reefer
it would be okay....

but your tank still wont be stable yet.
id honestly just wait the nasty algae blooms out.

people have said that sometimes the tanks don't get algae blooms especially if the water used was from an established tank as well as the LR.

the water is from my 20 gallons weekly water changes and the LR has been bleached form sitting out in the backyard for a few weeks so we'll see
husonfirst
Wow, that is a tall tank. Can't wait to see it filled up.

I really like the aquascaping --- another good example of abstract aquascaping.

added a sixline wrasse yesterday. He's still in his hiding mode since the environment is so new to him

here's the only pic i was able to get of him

plantarms
nice setup, i can't wait to see it with all the corals grown out some, how is the sixline doing in there?

yea i can't wait for them to grow out also. the sixline just hides out in the back of the tank where it's more shaded since it was in the shade at the LFS since those tanks are under indirect t5 lighting. I read that they tend to hide a lot once they're introduced to new tanks so i'm giving it a few days before i start to worry. I've been trying to feed it pellets but i don't think it likes the pellets but i have pods in the tank so it's okay
evodrgn@
Got my 1st officially purchased acan set today!!! traded in a few frags from my 20 gallon to knock the price to $25 for it.

there's costly where i'm at..........$45/head....i bought one and the other was given to me for free in a ricordea set that i got
Nanobuds
wow the tank is lookin great man!!
badfish816
awesome tank!
evodrgn@
thanks nanobuds and badfish816!!!
evodrgn@
traded in 7 baby heads of tubs blue, 4 baby heads of radio active dragon eye, 1 head of 5-colored rainbow, two baby heads of whammin' watermelon and two baby baby heads of joker zoas and one defective looking dendro (not sure if it's aussie or just regular..it looked really weird) for...............4 mouths of Reverse Prism Favia at the LFS!!!!

and i say baby heads of the zoas i traded because they're much smaller than the normal sized heads i have on the colonies. I think it was a nice trade considering they're all baby heads haha

pics:

under 50/50:

actinic:

the front of the tank is a bit dirty that's why i could only shoot the pic at that angle....
waterboarder21
