My lfs recommended the Maxi Jet 600 as a upgrade to my stock return pump for my Nano Cube 12G. After installing it, water flow is great, but it creates too much bubbles and the water doesnt look clear. Maybe I should turn down the flow? Is this a good upgrade? Is an upgrade even necessary? Should I have just upgraded a new powerhead?

On a off topic regarding filter floss, where do I place it in the tank and how much do i need?

Thank you for your help.

Maybe you just have to raise the water level in the back chambers. Do you have the stock media, or have you removed/replaced it (and with what, if anything).

I replaced it with just Cemipure Elite and some filter floss.

I don't think it's too much flow, if that's your concern. I have an MJ900 in my 12g nano cube. As mentioned, raising your water level should get rid of the bubbles. I place my filter floss right behind the water intake for the rear chambers. You need to rig something up to keep the filter floss near the top of the chamber. Here's what I made out of egg crate and zip ties.
