alright, so since i started my tank about 9 months ago, all i had was 5 asterina(sp) snails. I have seen a few hitchhiker stomatellas that have grown pretty large. Now, anytime the light goes off, about an hour later the stometellas are out and there are about 200 tiny snails all over the rock and the back of the tank. About the size of a piece of a BB gun pellet. Im thinking these things are fine to have, but what happens when i have 200+ growing snails in a 24g tank? The shells look normal, like tiny tiny turbo snails.

Are these likely to die off before then? Or am i going to be selling snails for a few months? lol!

Well, thanks for any help.

You will command a snail army. What you do with that power, I cannot tell.

they will be preyed on etc. It is natural. They are generally clean algae eaters. It's fine.

How you command the army is purely up to you... as previously stated.

Those tiny turbo snails are likely collonistas, which only get to half an inch. I have dozens of them that do a good job of eating algae. Their population will adjust to the available food supply. Selling them is a great idea.

Also, asterinas are starfish; you might be talking about astraea snails.
