you cant glue them down, you can try to put some mesh on it over the xenia and rock

i m pretty newb myself but recently i have received some xenia unattached from a buddy. I put one of them on the sand bed for a week of so, then I glue to to something. This way the xenia will attached to some sand/small rock particle..

People say you can't glue xenia but I glue them and drop them in a shot glass so no flow pulls it away from the glue. Generally it's attached within 2 days.

Just pile some rocks next or practically on them. They will attach to the rock in like a day.

I just rubber band the frag to a piece of live rock rubble. Not too tight otherwise it will kill "banded" coral flesh. Just tight enough to hold it secure. Otherwise i've heard of people using a toothpick and striking the stem into a crevice in the live rock.
The glue method will prob work too though.

I rip it off the rocks with tweezers and rubberband..

This method seems to be the most popular
" use little pieces of tulle wrapped around the base and secured with a rubber band (not over the coral). Tulle is the stuff that bridal veils are made of, and you can get it at a fabric store. "

i just pull out one of my razor blades cut the stalk in half. with that i get some dental floss and put it exactly in the middle from the top to the bottom on a frag disk. this forces the top of the xenia to split into 2 xenias. giving it a instant split and 2 stalks instead of fragging and only having 1 xenia and waiting for it to split later on

+1, it will stretch itself onto the nearby rocks, and after a few days(well, a few days for me) it'll adhere and you can separate what you want from it.

You can also cut off a stalk, stab through it with a toothpick and then rubber band around both ends of the toothpick to whatever you want to stick it to.

I use 2 methods.
1) just put some rock(s) next to the colony and wait for a week or so for it to spread.
2) If I want a lot of frags I cut of loads of small stalks off, put them in a plastic tub with loads of LR Rubble, cover the tub with plastic mesh and put back in my tank. Then after a few days they have all attached to the rubble.

with mine i cut the frags and then just left them on the sand with some rubble until they attached. or until they got enough sand on them so i could glue to a piece of rubble.

i believe this is a nice method but only in tanks with low-medium flow. for me evertyhing has to be heavy or attached to something or else it will go flying and flowing all over the tank. 1000+gph in my DT is hard but i would also get the container with mesh for my tank or my other method.
