any body ever order from http://www.ccritters.com/

I've placed several orders. He packs a bit tough ( newspaper and DIY styro insert), but his "critters" are just as described and all arrived alive and well. His Ricordia are bright - I even got a 3 mouthed orange one!

I'm putting together another order soon ...just need to get on the other side of the holidays : )

Tell Dana I sent you : )

I emailed for their lic# and never got an email back, which makes me even more huh.gif (That doesn't mean they don't have one but was indicative of customer service)

You might also want to note Rye that their stuff is wild caught.

"Most of our tropical fish are hand caught wild and are kept in a medicated system for at least a couple days before shipping. We do our best to clean the fish and inverts of any parasites or disease they might have. "

I have NO NONE ZERO experience ordering from them, but I would advise against it. Pay a little more for aqua cultured stuff and I think you will be happier in the long run.

yea but a little more is 50$ + even more from stomatopod.com

Yeah but wild #### dies and leaves disease that turns your tank into a big wet trash can.

50$ extra to have it alive and healthy for a while, or 50$ cheaper for a shorter lived disease ridden animal that may or may not adapt to tank life.

Ripped from the ocean then shipped to your door within a week is just a bad idea dude.

yea your right it just sucks to pay that much lol i will just have to wait for my lfs to get one in

You after a peacock?

While I agree, wild caught can be tougher to keep alive than something that's had several generations in aquaculture - almost all fish and inverts are wild caught. Even the ones from your LFS. Until relatively recently, the vast majority of corals and clams were wild caught. Live rock too ...wild harvested.

Do you have any fish or inverts in your tank? All Wild caught ( except most Clowns and Banggais which are tank raised) and shipped thousands of miles to your LFS. Every thing else ...wild caught.

So, buy where you want to ...but some stuff just isn't available any other way.

I stand by my recommendation of CC Critters - my order arrived alive, the quality exceeded my expectation and even after a year in captivity I have maintained most of the living things I received ( Ricordia, FL mushrooms, Frilly Gorgonian, juv Bluehead Wrasse).

It's one thing to take a risk on wild, it's quite another to take one on species. You really need a more tactical approach because it is fairly easy to mis-identify a mantis, and there IS a difference.

No disrespect intended itz, and I am glad your livestock is well. It's just not a risk I would take smile.gif

i've bought from him in the past. you will want to email him for availability before ordering. he is REALLY good at getting you stuff with size requests and colors as well. but sometimes makes mistakes in identifying certain fishes. But all in all id still recommend him or sealifeinc. use to be caribbeanfishandmore but they seem to have fallen off the face of the planet.

Reefcleaners, ReefScavangers and just about all other places i know (including LFS's) get wild caught snails and such. IME all of them have survived well in my tank and i would go as far to say they are much more hardier than and aquaculture snail. i mean organisms in the wild have to go through way more than what aquaculture ones do (such as rain and low tide)

also ive never encountered any diseases being introduced to my tank via snails and such.

as for CCritters. ive ordered from them 3 times and ive been very pleased all of the 3 times wink.gif

I missed the mantis shrimp detail.

The Florida Mantis Shrimp I've seen are very plain looking ( pinkish color). Maybe I'm mistaken, but the Peacock and Green ones aren't from the Caribbean. If I was going to get a Mantis I'd go for the high impact colored ones.
