Well, I'm starting to save my money up for my next tank upgrade (seems like just yesterday i was putting together my 5 gallon rimless), and even though i won't be ready to buy for a few months, i was wondering if anyone on the forums here could make me a nice 30"x18"x18" rimless, with an overflow with one hole in the bottom (problably a 1" bulkhead), two more holes in the bottom panel of the aquarium (not sure the return size), and i was wondering if the glass would be so thick, that i'd have to use starphire, all for under $600 shipped? (I got the $600 figure from a tenecor quote for this same tank, but i'm now debating whether the acrylic will hold up well enough: i'm not that gentle with my equipment.)
btw, i will be running this tank bb, and thought the pvc bottom on the age tanks was a nice touch... would it be possible to get one of these botoms on this tank (also, does anyone know how much an age tank of this size would be?)
Thanks ahead of time

A.G.E are great tanks but they are very pricey. I got quoted for a 36x20x20 aquarium at 975 and with crate and freight shipping itd be around 175 more. They deal with large and very expensive aquariums and since mine was small it would have been on the back burner sorta say or thats what they said when my quote took awhile to get. where are you located? you might want to try Leemar tanks if your in CA or even Miracles Aquarium if on the East Coast.

I can recommend www.glasscages.com. They will do custom dimensions, custom overflows, etc, or you can select a standard size off of their web site. Their prices are amazing, and they will ship it for $36 to many cities in the US. You'll have to meet their truck at a place and time determined by them, in one of the cities they ship to. Check their site for a list to see if one is near you.
I did a quick look on their site and they can build you a rimless 36 x 18 x 16, with an overflow and two holes drilled for $225. Add $41 for Starfire glass on the front, or $82 for Starfire on the front and the sides. Add $35 for an acrylic cover for the overflow, add $30 for two schedule 80 bulkheads, Add $25 to have them drill an extra hole. You get the idea, it would be hard to find a way to spend more than $450 delivered (and that's all starfire). I have one of their tanks, and it is built solid.
While I can't say enough about the great price, there are a couple of things to look out for:
1) If you aren't willing to drive to one of the cities they deliver to, on the day they tell you, then the shipping price skyrockets.
2) Their workmanship is not very precise. Very functional, and sturdy, but a little sloppy. The slots in the acrylic cover for my overflow weren't perfectly uniform. It looked like they did them on a table saw, freehand. And they were too far apart, so they couldn't handle the flow I needed (One 1/8" slot every 3/4"). I had to us my own table saw to cut another slot between each of the ones they cut. It ended up looking find, and was no big deal, but still.
3) The people there are very "sensitive" (like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld). If you aren't polite enough when talking to them on the phone, they are likely to say "No tank for you!". This happened to me. I called back, very humbly, and they agreed to build my tank (strange). I've read similar stories about them on the internet.
Still, the price is crazy low, so I recommend them.

thanks for the fast replies!
i'm definately gonna stay away from glasscages, but am interested in miracles... their tanks seem nice, but how do they compare to the quote i got for the tenecor? ($568 shipped)

when you design a tank, you can kind of estimate cost based on amount of material. Think in terms of 6 or 12 in. For example, up to 18-24in would be about the same price but over will cost you more. In your case, a 30in tank would cost roughly the same as a 36in tank. Also keep in mind standard lighting lengths. 24, 36,48. If you're interested in a 36 18 18 ADA has you covered with a low iron tank. They also have 24 18 18.
As to the recommendations. I might avoid glass cages as they don't just have feedback about being flakey but being downright rude. If you're being steered away from Advanced Acrylic, I might reconsider that as he has a lot of very very good reviews as well. I would recommend them if you've got some time to build and you're good about emailing him pretty consistently.
However, for a tank that tank, you might have to go with some very thick acrylic as I've seen a 24x10 1/2in acrylic tank bow.
Good luck either way

so, how about tenecor aquariums? I got that good quote for the tank w/ black bottom panel, background, oveflow, and three holes drilled w/ bulkheads shipped ($568.) is the quality of these tanks good? the only thing i'm worried about is scratching, and if the eurobracing is too nig (i want plenty of room to reach in the tank.)

"K.tran", why is it that you'd prefer leemar over tenecor? what's the differences between the tanks they build? would the price be about the same?
