Hello, I have 2 questions for you guys. First off what are these darker green sort of bulbous tubercles on my star polyp? It also has longer dark green tubes as seen in the photo as well:

Next what is this dark purple aglae, it feels kind of like strands of a scotch pad...and grows in tufts on the rock.

I'm pretty sure that the first one is a species of caulerpa. I forgot the name, maybe someone else will know it.

Think the second one looks like turf algae.

First one is caulerpa, the next one is a very fibrous algae, you most likely don't want either one in your tank...
spanko
First looks like Caulerpa peltata.

Thanks everyone smile.gif

The C.peltata came in on the Star Polyp it doesnt seem to be bothering the coral its grown like a weed over the last month. If it gets out of control I will clip it away from the coral. Now the turf algae...I have a zebra turbo snail in the tank along with 2 margarita snails. So far the algae is in a few isolated spots on the rock and I will admit I do sort of like it but dont want it to get out of control. Manually removing it is probably not going to happen. I have heard that emerald crabs and lawn mower blennys will help control it, anyone have experience with that? My tank is only a 15G high so a tang of any size wouldnt like it in there for long at all.
