ok so i have done search after search and still not found my answers I'm looking for i want to do a display fudge and i was planing on putting a inch of the mud down and 2 in of sand on top of it to keep it from getting stirred up i want to plant mangroves in will this work or will the mud be a waste because it is buried

I THINK it should work. Any type of rooted algae should gain benefit from the mud, since it will provide a rich source of nutrients to fuel growth.

The miracle mud canister says that that's pretty much what you are supposed to do.

Isn't the point of having plants(algae or mangroves) is to pull the nutrients out of the water and reef tank?

Seems counter intuitive to add nutrients for plants to grow in a reef tank intentionally.
