Alright so if all goes well my 14 gallon Biocube will be done cycling by the weekend. Whick I plan to purchase a clown pair for the tank. My question is,Should I add both at the same time or 1 at a time? The store says they are ORA clowns, whit is ORA? How should look for a pair, I've heard something like their born without gender so how do I find a pair? In a few months I would also like a purple firefish, would this be overstocking such a small tank?
Sorry for all the questions I'm new

i would say add them both at the same time. look for clowns thats always together. and suppose to be bigger than the other one. (ORA) tank bred

Both at the same time. One smaller than the other by at least 1/2 and doing the wiggle dance where it stands on its head when another larger one charges it slightly. That one will be the male and the charging one will be the female. Or both the same size and very small so they are not sexed yet.

Its totally ok to be new (and welcome, by the way). 2 clownfish and a firefish will be fine in a 14, but I wouldn't stock any further. As far as purchasing clownfish, buy 2 young fish- what type are you thinking? Percula, Ocelaris or something else?

I would like a maroon pair but ive heard they are some of the larger clowns and not good for my tank. I also like the b&w clowns

Yes that is true. Avoid the maroon clowns. They tend to become more aggressive than some other types as they get older. Black and whites would be fine.

As was said, the Maroons are a bad idea for your tank. They are gorgeous fish but they get big and nasty, really fit well in 75+ gallon aggressive tanks. The Black and White Ocellaris would be fine, but you might try mixing B&W and normal. I've done that for my tank and it looks pretty cool. But, to each their own.
ORA stands for Oceans, Reefs, and Aquariums. They are one of, if not the leading commercial breeder of saltwater livestock. Their animals are usually very hardy and long-lived.

would a b&w and a normal form a mating pair?

If they are both Ocellaris, they should. Mine has shown mating behaviors, but neither one is maturing into the female so far.

How do you know if one has turned into a female?

The bigger bossy one struttin around like a big ol' b***h is your female. The smaller one who looks frightened and confused is your male.

I have an orange/black and white pair of ocellaris and they get along very well. The orange is the dominant one and I added her to the tank 4 days before the black and white and they are both around the same size.

A pair of clowns WILL get aggressive, and it would be best just to have the pair, your firefish will get bullied by the bigger female clown.
