So the other day my ywg decides he doesn't like his cave anymore and so he out in the open. He literally swims at the top of the tank all day. He looks really stressed cause he has those dark bands on him and I haven't seen him eat in at least 4 days. What is he doing? Is this normal? BTW he's in a 29 gallon with only one other clown fish who doesn't bother much. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like hes not happy and wants to jump. could be scared of his tank mates, a hitchhiker, bad water quality, diseased, etc.

Thing is I am really confused because he has been fine for over two months.
Then again I added a tailspot blenny on friday the goby came out of his cave on saterday and the blenny disappeared on monday so i assuming it died. Not sure if that has any thing to do with it.
My clown fish is mean but she doesnt bother the goby but yeah he is stressed and looks like he wants to jump out

since your tailspot disappeared it could be a hitchhiker such as a mantis shrimp.

hmm interesting but i am not sure i havent seen one or heard it and the tank has been set up for over a year with no problems
I know I have about a 4" bristle worm but i don't think that would do anything

How's your parameters? Although I've had a ywg live in bad water parameters without dying. IME they are very hardy.
Are you sure there isn't any hitchhiker? My ywg does swim around the tank a bit, but never to the top.

most of the stuff in your tank has the potential to be aggressive and most of them are at the bottom with your ywb.

you should quarantine him and get him eating. try live food such as black worms.
