Let me start out with saying I don't think he's a bad guy, young and inexperienced maybe but I don't believe this deal went stupid out of malice, and I will be getting it.

Bought a sump/wet dry from him on 10/20

"pm me offer a price before shipping and your zip ill tell you price after shipping" <-- I did that.

Then nothing. A week passes no contact, so I sent PM (admittedly it was a grouchy PM seagul had just effed me over and I was cranky).

He tells me work is hella busy, he will DEFINITELY mail over the weekend.

Waited all week....still nothing. PM'd, no response. Waited all the way until 3 days ago and said *&^# it I need a sump, went and got one. He responds that he has had the flu and couldn't mail it he is mailing soon though

PM'd Troy saying "Lets call it even. Refund my $$ via paypal" He responds that his mom just shipped it and shipping is 40$ (not what he had me pay) and I can pay him the 15$ when it gets here





Its 11/10 I still don't have the sump and actually will have 2 when it arrives. So overall, not an awesome transaction.

I'm inclined to shaft him the 15$ extra in shipping, but I will most likely pay it to avoid bad blood.

In his defense, I was extraordinarily b****y towards the end and he wasn't a complete jerk about it. I don't think he set out for it to be this complicated, and I believe the issue here was inexperience alone.

Summary : If you are buying or sellin' with him cover all the basic's including a promised ship date and total BEFORE you close the deal.

Please tell me he isn't shipping it priority mail. How is shipping $40?!

If i had the flu, i would be on the computer more than i am now. It doesnt take much to say "sorry i have been sick i will send it as soon as i can" or "sorry i have had a hectic work schedule".

I can't complain too much I knew I was taking a risk with low post count no feedback type thing. I guess his mom shipped UPS

I'd say he can eat the $15, he didn't have the flu for weeks and in all likelihood shipped on that extremely coincidental date because you told him to cancel it. Did he provide a tracking slip showing that it was indeed shipped on that day and wasn't him stalling for another day? I'm so cynical these days...

Wow. That stinks. How did they ship it? Did they wrap it in newspaper and just give it to UPS to ship out? Hope you get your money back for this. Keep us updated.

Looks like 4 different boxes cut up and sort of taped together. There was some bubble wrap in there somewhere but I guess the side blew out in transit so it was all sorta smashed in the box.

I thought I might pee myself laughing when I saw the addy written in crayon I might take it up with UPS.

I wouldn't deal with Troy989. His attitude about the sump we bought from him is that we screwed him out of money by not paying the extra shipping cost; even though he admitted he got it for free, shipped it dirty, took three weeks to ship it in what has to be the worst packaging I've ever seen so that when it arrived it was cracked, broken, and totally unusable. On top of all that he has the audacity to post in a thread for newbies asking for frags from us and then implies that we screwed him because he only profited $15 for a sump we can't use.

Hmmm sounds like a bad transaction all around. I just shipped a cpr hang on refugium across the country via UPS. Shipping cost me $40, but that was because I had UPS package it for me ($25). UPS told me they only covered shipping damages if they packaged it themselves.

Wait. So you are supposed to use a box? I thought you just put the UPS thermal label on the sump and send er off. Or crayon, either one is professional.

I'd say it's time to file yet another paypal claim, you shouldn't get screwed if he's the one that couldn't take the time to package it correctly. Just my 2 cents...

Please just save yourself the trouble and don't do business with Troy. He is still going on about how the sump would've been packed better and cleaner if more money would've been sent to him, which is kind of sad because he had been told that if it worked when it got here that he would get the extra money that he requested. In the interest of good karma, Paypal has not been contacted for a refund.

tuesday night i was buying some sunset and superman monti from him. he told me to send the money and he would overnight it on wednesday. so i did. thursday came and no package. i pm'ed him and 12hours and 8 messages later he replies and said oh i was shipping it out monday.

i have emails showing he said he was shipping it wednesday and he didnt so i told him to ship it yesterday and just overnight it since he had the money i sent him. and today came and it wasnt in the mail. his mailbox is full and hasnt replied. so doing the whole paypal dispute thing also.

he also has another sn that he uses and sells the same stuff andrew995.

these two are brothers who have no idea how to run a tank. they were on another forum, and they seem young, really young. they were banned from there, just a heads up

just an update. did the whole paypal claim thing and he never even replied so they sending the money back to my account.
