Well, I've had this little camera since last Christmas, and I guess I felt that I should do a little more with it than taking pictures of intestinal parasite looking hitchhiker worms...

Last week I went with my grandparents up to Wayah Bald here in N.C.
Wasn't much to see besides a pair of red squirrels fighting over some suspicious looking red berries, and some cedars killed by acid rain. But, I did come across this rather fair looking lichen(at least I'm pretty sure it's a lichen). These were the only two colonies I found, and they looked rather different than the old goats beard that was hanging everywhere, so I decided to take a shot of them. I came across this rather unpleasant gelatinous orange fungi growing towards the end of another trail, but my batteries had kicked the bucket. I'll remember now to carry extra, heh.

A rather crappy shot taken from the top of the old observation tower-

This is from sometime during this last summer. Laurel Flowers from the back yard.

Now, a few days ago I had remembered something someone here on NR had said about taking close up pictures by using a magnifying glass. Well, I couldn't find one. But luckily, I have a 10x jeweler's loupe laying around, and I'm rather surprised that it works, at least to a point.

A close up of some rose petals, from the tea rose growing by the driveway-

Seed pod from some sort of weed on the lawn-

And last but not least, some sort of insect that enjoys flying around the lights at night-
