What kind of equipment should i get. I want to have a sump with lr in i will have some in the display maybe 10-20lbs depending on size.
Heres my list

idk what kind of heat reccomend one plz
protein skimmer 100 idk what kind

A 33g aquaculture facility? You might want to go larger than a 33g tank. You wont be able to grow much out that's for sure.

Any farming tank is better than no farming tank smile.gif

I'd say a 4' 4 bulb t5 fixture with ATI bulbs would do really well in that tank. As far as hardware you'll need to research what's good for you and your needs.

How does this set up differ from a regular tank? Is this more like a frag tank?

yes.
travisurfer
The reptile tank is probably a terrarium and not an aquarium so it wouldn't be able to hold the water. Even if it did, I'm not sure I'd want to trust its cleanliness. If you're going to be spending the money on high-end corals, I'd spend the extra few $ to get a sump that you know you can trust.
fraggerdude27
Well yeah a frag tank with egg crate. I said maybe a 33gallon its just a thought i liek the demsions .How would stuff grow in that 48" tank with t5s. its a standard aqaurium i bought it at walmart with a filter and everything. Whats a decent sized tank it has to be 12 high no higher. What do i do about the live rock situation should i put some in the tank and in the sump.
Militant Jurist
I would do the LR in the form of a lot of rubble, along the bottom of the tank. You don't want anything big, if you're going for an eggcrate frag rack. You can also put some LR pieces in the sump, if you end up needing more LR.
fraggerdude27
Alright thanks militant thats helped. So i really just want it to trade and sell at the frag swap in my area.Or to sell if it is sucessfull i will start a business with my little cousin eclipseboy27 .I know he's doing a 10g with 150w mh i was thinking about doing one of those it will be small scale frag tank but i want to out do his.How would a 20 long do with 36" t5 nova extreme fixture.

its 4x39w 156w i want to keep anything.
eclipseboy27
Hey i am glad you finally joined.

That's should be just fine. I've got a 20L with 4x24w, and I can keep acros. It's enough light that my monti caps tend to bleach a bit if too close to the top!
fraggerdude27
Will a 150w halide light a 20l .I am looking into gettign one 150w halide becuase it is a versatile lamp it can be used for lots of different tanks.

I have a 30 gallon cube like tank which is not as long as a 20L and there is issues with my 150 watt MH hitting the whole tank. If you move the light higher up it will cover more of the tank, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose. I say that t5's work good for the "longer" style tanks or you can do a dual 70watt MH clamp on or something.
fraggerdude27
Well i think i am going to use 150watt on 10 gallon. I don't know how to do the rack though thats alott of light. I am jsut gettign the light so i can use it on what every my cousin and i are both asking fo rthem for chrismas. We are the same age i am jsut taller. I might set up a 18x18x8 who knows but i"ll have it. I am setting up the tank in may or so when my family moves to nashville. I am gettign one of those aquatic life 60 skimmer. For pumps would a korlia be to much for a 10 gallon i have a taam seio 320gph.

lol, i'm just givin ya poop. can't wait to see what you end up with! (but this site does need spellcheck)
fraggerdude27
Yeahlol ,thanks i am trying to figure out how i should filter it. What do u think.

I am thinking about one of those tom aquatics hob canister. Whats a better alternative. I was thinking about drilling it.
lajz9
Personally I'd drill it, no doubt about it. If you're gonna go with SPS you'll definitely want a skimmer. Besides the additional water volume it'll give you more room for (better non-HOB*) equipment and will definitely look better.

* Yes, I know there is some good HOB equipment, but it doesn't compare to the equipment that could be placed into a sump.
fraggerdude27
So what size sump then? How should i have it set up ( like how should i have chambers in it and how much lr in the sump? I am getting this skimmer

http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaticLife_Int...IPSISVS-vi.html

Whats a good korlia for the tank?
lajz9
I'll get back to ya, but before I forget. Don't get that skimmer, it's junk.
fraggerdude27
Alright i want to spend 100 max on one.
Crawf71
Might be tight with that budget.
fraggerdude27
Yeah i want a tunze but they are 152. I read that those aquatic lifes are good though.

- one skimmer
+ a bunch of water changes

= one good lesson in tank husbandry

i dont run a skimmer on my 10 gallon.. just small water changes once a week. i have 11 different sps, 5 lps, a but load of softies, and a lone fish

oh yeah and 6x18 t5's
lajz9
I agree with no skimmer on a 10g, I thought we were still talking about the frag system!

honestly lajz9 ill be setting up my frag tank this weekend and i opted skimmerless. probably wont have any fish in it. maybe a blenny if anything.. so there wont be much feeding..

i will say this though. one thing ive learned is if youre going to keep sps fraggerdude, you better go ahead and budget in your 2 part additives and possibly a kalk delivery system.. a 10 gallon sps tank water parameters (and this is only personal experience) are unstable... and thats "unstable-at best". you want to keep your alk and calcium at their proper levels and man they can really absorb the hell out of both. dont bite off more than you can chew

Not a bad choice! My 12" cube is fishless, no sps besides a little birdsnest though...

my tank was too for the longest. boredom drove me to get a fish lol

The ten gallon is the frag tank. It will jsut be for trading with friends. So what kind of filter should i have. Should i get a toms aquatics canister filter or a bigger one. Or a aquaclear and mod it to a fuge.

If i am not buying a skimmer.I read my cousins post and saw that u really can't drill a 10g tank. It will crack over time its to thin. So i would be willing to buy like the aquaclear 110 or something if its like 79.99 or would the 70 be better.

could always do an HOB overflow.. hell if you have to have a sump, you can do a diy pvc overflow.. runa search on them and you will get all the info ever needed.. beware when starting DIY.. it becomes an addiction
Carlton'sTank
I did the DIY pvc overflow. It seems confusing at first, but once you break down the principles, the design makes sense. It costs about 15 dollars and some labor. I think an AC70 converted into a fuge would be perfect. You can also buy a surface skimmer attachment. I am about to do the same thing with my frag tank which is 30 gallon. It has been set-up for a while with the DIY pvc overflow, but it was a bit noisy and it was a similar concept to the AC fuges with more evaporation, so I am looking for a used AC110 to convert Good luck.

Air pump gravel what do u mean? How do i hook up a phosban reacotr doesn't it need a co2 tank?

So i have credit at local fish store for korlia nano free or a korlia 1 for 5 bucks. I have a taam seio 320gph pump. One more u say what kind.

no phosban reactor just holds phosphate absorbing media or carbon, etc. flows in via pump, up through the media, and back out to the tank. check them out.. alot of people use them on zoa frag systems..
fraggerdude27
Couldn't i jsut put phosban in a bag cuz i don't see how it'll come up 2 feet with no pump.

O yeah and 100 ins't my budget i jsut want to spend that on a skimmer well i did. I have nano reef part a and b is that good what is some additives. I plan on getting chemi pure elite.
