currently, both vortechs are on the right wall. one is on the bottom far corner, the other is on the top front corner. I hope this makes sense. I'll take a picture tomorrow.
I bought a few colonies, and have a few growing for months in my frag tank. When my old tank crashed, all I had left was frags.
Thinking of adding a bird of paradise to this tank as well. it's in my frag tank right now.

They're definitely working against eachother. if you reposition the bottom one to the left side then your current would be gyrating around the tank, which is very good.

you other tank crash?!?!?
dude that sucks.
good thing your frags were all okay!

IMO you should get an efflo

Yeah, crashed tank = lots of fun.
I'll get an efflo soon

I agree, and think I'll move the move the back one to the bottom left. I'll try it tomorrow. I also got XM 20K's, so we'll see how those look.

Tank looks great. Your simplistic approach is great. I've been planning something similar for a long while but may take a bit before it comes to light. But I will try to eliminate the powerheads, overflow and all visible components. Hopefully...lol

Thanks a lot. It's always nice to hear nice things about the tank.
I really wanted to go with "less is more" with this tank.
I'd love to see your tank if it comes to be. Feel free to bounce some ideas off of me.

The fish is SUPER hardy, SUPER pretty, and kinda expensive unless you wait for them to be in season then they run about $100. Out of season $250-350 easy.

update. All three fish are eating, but have pretty much been hiding this whole time. The wrasse was out for about 20 seconds while I was close to the tank, but it's still a new home.

I'm not sure of the name, but it's got a deep purple base (which you can't see very well in the pic) and it is ridiculously bright green. That photo does it no justice. I built a
screen top for my tank, the tank is euro-braced, and the water level is about 2 inches from the top. If all of that doesn't stop the little buggers from jumping... then I guess it wasn't meant to be. Fingers crossed here!!

They are already coming out a little more. The only thing about super macro shots, is that they don't show the color of the coral. I think things look washed out. I do like the details they show though.
What other corals would you guys like to see in the tank?

Nov 22 2009, 09:19 AM
Well, I'm partial to ORA corals and I would recommend the Pearlberry, and the Hawkins Echinata. I have a Bird of Paradise and highly recommend it as well, I think I saw an earlier post where you thought you might put one in.

I get some insane polyp extension on mine. I also have a red planet and the green is outstanding and it should table nicely for you.
Very nice set-up and I enjoyed the pics of the Helfrichi. My lfs got a couple of pairs in for the first time. I had never seen them in person, only from pics...... Beautiful. Only thing holding me back was the price tag, $250 bucks for the pair. Oh well X-mas is around the corner (Gift certificates anyone)?
There's only one other thing you might want to consider adding...... A nice Maxima Clam!! I can picture one on the bottom between the 3 large rock pieces!

what's up basser.
I completely agree with you about the pearlberry and the hawkins. I will try to get frags over the next week or so. I already cut a small piece of BOP and added it to the tank, and there is already a red planet tabling nicely on the right rock. Have you had any experience with clams in a bb tank? I guess I never even thought about it. It sure would add some crazy color.
I also have a setosa in my frag tank. It's about 3" big, and I will add it to the tank soon.
basser1
Nov 22 2009, 09:53 AM
If I was going to add a maxima in a BB tank, I would first place a clam shell or flat piece of rock under it so it can attach its' foot to. But it sure would look nice! It could be a centerpiece for your tank!
BTW, if you do get a Hawkins, you can place them lower in the tank. Mine does well in lower light.
imcosmokramer
Nov 22 2009, 09:56 AM
I was thinking about something similar. Like putting it on a rock in my frag tank to make sure it attaches, then moving it over. What I think I'll do, is want for the corals to grow in the "opening", and then see how much room I have left.. Although, if it is on it's own rock, I can always move it later.
Basser, have you seen the blue iris in real life? is it worth it?

if its just a milli then get a RP. RP's are almost blood red and has the green center to them.

other than that there are some maricultured pink tabling acros that ive seen at my LFS... idk if your LFS carries maricultured stuff tho.
