Thanks guys! Here is the current FTS:

The right:

You can see some of the macros in different spots... In the Right side picture, you can see the purple fern in the background - it is already showing new growth and looks great! I have to say I think the macros are really helping a lot. I definitely have less algae growth in the places I don't want it. And they just add something unique to the overall appearance.
Zoa Garden has grown a little and you can also see my ghetto frag rack in the back of the tank (walmart magnet cleaner, super glu gel and eggcrate)
Thanks for looking!

Really digging the macros. I may have missed it when scanning the other posts, did you get them at a LFS or order online (from where)?

LAReefs.com - Other than the Blue Scroll Macro, I was pretty happy with everything. Great Service and very FAST!

Will do - just finished the weekly water change so I will have to wait until at least tomorrow. This was the easiest one I have ever had. Usually I spend time getting algae off of the rocks, glass and then suctioning it out of the sand. This week, I spent 2 minutes for a little on the sand and that was IT! Very nice indeed.

Hope everyone's Christmas and New Year were great! The tank is chugging along well. The clown has split his two hairy green mushrooms into 5, new growth on the birdsnest and several softies.
Here is the best I can get of the clam... Tried a straight down shot, but the light reflection was too bad. I am going to build a little piece out of acrylic to see if I can get a better shot:

And an FTS after water change...

Looks awesome, man. How long has your tank been running now? Got a clam on my buy-list but much further down the road I think.
edit: duh, just saw birth date lol, nevermind

Yep - this one's been up a couple of months... Took everything out of my nano cube 12 and added about 10 pounds of rock. The clam is nice - the birdsnest is nice... I think I am good on those. Concentrating on LPS and Softies. Just like how they look.
Thanks!

That red coral in the middle-ish region, is that a ric? I can't tell really. Whatever it is, it is awesome.
BTW, love the little clam. Nice progression. Now you just gotta make it down to SB some weekend to give you me frags

Steve - Thanks! I have to say, mine is nowhere near as clean as yours! Your DIY skills are amazing.
Hernandez - thanks as well... Makes perfect sense. Not too much rock, but more than enough.

BTW - do you have a tank thread? I love seeing other 20 longs...
SoCalDude - Can't wait to make it out there! I will be bringing some frags with me. If you are thinking the one just a little right of center (almost red orange) it's a Ricordia Yuma. The thing is awesome! Has spit out 8 babies so far and it gets about 4-5 inches when fully opened.
On another note - I rescued a Yellow Watchman Goby (I know I'm a sucker) from an LFS. Poor thing looks like it took a pretty good beating. Fins are a little messed up. Put him in the tank and he immediately went for my Clowns' Hairy Green Mushrooms... We'll see how this turns out.
Pics in a couple of days.
Thanks again,
B

OK - overdue I know... First we had a tragic loss to the family - my flame scallop (was expecting it after everything I have read but keeping hopeful)
Everything else is doing well... The xenia is spreading, new growth on almost everything.
Here is the newest addition - Yellow Watchman Goby. He was watching me carefully as I tried to get pictures. Best I could muster:

and a mid tank shot that I liked:

Well... The Blue scroll algae dissappeared on one of my trips. Strangely enough I have a red alge that is growing in various places in the tank. I need to get some pics and try to get an ID on it.
Thanks

New Pics:
First is the Macro that started growing in different spots (ID appreciated) I am wondering if the itty bitty piece of the scroll macro has taken seed - but not sure.

and a new macro I got last week:
%20(640x480).jpg)
Keeping with the macro theme - this is my red fern macro (you can see it finally rooted)

%20(640x480).jpg)
An interesting shot of the pencil urchin (the purple spikes are looking pretty menacing lately)
%20(640x481).jpg)
and last but not least - best shot of the YWG I have gotten

It's funny you ask... I never understood why he sat at one end of the tank for most of the day. Then I read and realized it was the lowest flow area. He does very well (and he is an oinker!) He eats a lot of food, but for the most part is a great tank mate.
Just to set the record straight - your tank looks awesome and continues to get better every day!
Thanks

He seems to be well behaved. I have had to pick up a couple of frags in the mornings, but not sure if it was him or something else (I do have a bulldozing turbo snail.)
Overall I would say he does OK - I thought he would consume a little more of the algae than he seems to do.
Thanks!

ain't that the truth!
Hypothetical question - if you got this acrylic tank 20l x 10d x 18h and it had a very small hole drilled in the front about 2 inches down from the top (don't ask cause I don't know what the guy was thinking) and the brace was broken off (again, no ideal why) - would you think it feasible to have someone just take the top three inches off and then add a new brace? leaves it at 20x10x15 (hmmmm, I wonder what I would do with a skinny tall tank... What kind of animals like skinny tall tanks.)
This is all hypothetical of course. I mean, I already have one tank - I really don't need another right?

Well, ask Violinist about that one lol. I guess you could do it as long as the tank would be solid after the cutting and re-bracing. What would you wanna put into it? Personally, I could see it being a BTA tank with a pair of maroons or tomatoes

, but I am kinda crazy I guess.

Feb 14 2010, 10:18 AM
Haha. Well I can tell you the clownfish actually seem a lot more frisky in the hex (tall, narrow) than the long. Plus, being retarded and all, they probably think it's a tank of infinite width as they swim in circles around the rock column lol.
+1 on the nems too. Fairly immobile. That's my plan.
Don't know about carving up that tank, but having a second tank is a bit more work and a lot more fun.
