Whoa... I didn't recongize it at all,
I've been meaning to ask you how it's doing since it was struggling a bit when I gave it to you
the tank seems recovering well!

Awesome score on that rock. Would be a crying shame for whoever to start snapping pieces of that monti off, so lucky you to get the whole thing. Bad mojo on tanks lately. Hopefully it's all smooth sailing into the fall.

Not good - all survivors are now in the 8 gallon.

Hey, things sound difficult right now, hope it gets better.
I have that frag of hammer waiting for you still! No need for trade, just get this thing going! (When you have time, of course)

Thanks Oats. Really appreciate.
After the first small crash, I thought I had it back. Left for a week, came back and it was awful. RTL on all the sps, scooter dead on the bottom, zoas/acans melting away.
Clown and YWG made it. Saved a few of the zoa and two of the acan, gold cloves, xenia and GSP. That's pretty much all that's left.
Going to set up a small 12G tank in place of the 8 that these are in. the light just is not enough for the coral to thrive. I need to do this so that there is little maintenance during the week, so back to basics. I don't want anyone to have to monitor calcium levels during the week - just weekly changes to keep it in check. So very little LPS no SPS.
LEDs are for sure - I want to see how the coral reacts, as the plan is to have a large tank LED powered early next year.
Thanks all for following along!

I'm glad you arn't giving up man. Set up the 12g and plan for the larger tank. Maybe you should get a million page build thread like animal has

That thread is worhtless, i started reading it and finally on page 120, realized there isnt even water in the tank.

So I was planning the 12 gallon and a buddy says... Why don't you buy my 24?
He just upgraded to a cad lights 50 so he let me basically steal a nanocube 24, a stand, inTank media rack, upgraded pumps, hydor flow nozzle, heater...... I literally NEED nothing to set this up. Of course, i have some plans. But priorities will be reef keeper then LED upgrade.
The stock lights were never even used and will be more than enough for the corals I have left.
Got some cleaning to do, pick up some new rock - probably a week or two out, but I will put up a new thread when I get things rolling.

Wait why are you going to a 24, for the AIO setup or just hate the 20l

All in one, closed top. I really want room to have equipment without it being in the display. I honestly was not thinking 24 at all... This just fell in my lap so to speak. I will be able to run different media, and either a fugue or skimmer in the middle.
Not sure what I am going to keep at this point, probably keep it mostly softies - so more likely a fuge than skimmer.
With the 20, I would lose too much depth if I did an all in one and I am too chicken to drill.

cool, keep us posted. I love not having my equiptment in the display, drilling isnt that bad but AIO is kinda cool too esp with all the mods and stuff u can do.

Did you figure out why it crashed twice. Did you check your temp swings? I leave my tank for weeks unattended and (knock on wood) everything is fine. Mine is a mixed tank and I do not dose anything. In fact, my test kit doesnt even have Ca and Alk test kit which I am going to buy soon. I dont even know what my Alk reading is. I am not heavy on SPS yet. Thinking of adding more SPS. BTW, I do have LED's which doesnt cause temp swings.
I have a fast growing orange cap, slow growing acro frag, fast growing two encrusting monti patches, Candy canes, Acans, Frogspawns, Nepthea, Xenia, rics and shrooms. I dont skim and do 15% water changes once in two weeks. I guess mine may be a crash waiting to happen.
