Ok I am torn. I have an ap12g and want to add anthother fish. I have 1 Ora false perc about 6months old ( I have had him in my tank for about 2 weeks) and 1 yellow watchman goby ( in my tank for 1 week). The watchman goby hasn't been the fish I hoped for. He is always hiding in the back, even with a nice huge empty turbo snail shell I put up front for him.( maybe too early?) My clown always hangs out up front never wandering to the back or exploring much. So my lfs has a really nice 6 line ( small) that I really like. But my kids think the the clown is lonely and needs a friend ( another clown). What do you think?

Definitely. It would be a bad choice to get another... you could get rid of the watchman if you don't like it, though. I think that if you had to have another fish, then 1 clown and 2 VERY small gobies would be alright. I would recommend getting a clown goby instead of the watchman.

trade in the goby if you dont like him- it's not like you married him.

go with the 6 line! i love mine! he's so active! if you get another clown there are chances the 2 could fight with eachother because they are not a pair already

And chances of the 6-line going ballistic in a tank this small is that much greater than two clowns fighting. Unless it's alone, a 6-line is a bad idea for this tank size. I would suggest considering trying a pistol shrimp in addition to the YWG if you don't want to get rid of either fish.

Clownfish will get 3 inches long and the watchmen will reach 4 inches. That's alot of fish for a 12 gallon even in the freshwater realm that's alot of fish for 12 gallons. If you want another fish that bad I agree with returning the YWG, but choose your next fish wisely b/c he will overstock you. I had a true perc and a firefish in a 10 AGA and they did alright, but always felt bad about how cramped they were in there. However, they got along fine as the clown was still very small. Plus it is hard to keep the fish feed in a small tank and keep your parameters were they should be. I would not do the sixline in anything under 30 gallons.IMO..

I have a clown, YWG and sixline "team" in my BC14 and they have been fine for going on two years. To do over again though, I would have started reading two years before buying fish. That would have given me an Ocellarus clown instead of a Percula (I like the coloration contrast better), a tailspot blenny instead of the YWG and a jawfish instead of the sixline. Hope they didn't hear me type that...

Thank u all for your advice. I will look for possible a tiger pistol for the ywg in hopes that he will make himself more noticible.
