Bangaiis are awesome, I've always loved having a school of bangaiis in an aquarium!

I think the midas is a great eye catcher. Beautiful, and really neat to watch them swim. A cardinal school is neat too. I also love lots of schools of little fish. A flame angel, maybe? Or even a flame wrasse...biggrin.gif

NOOOOOO on the Potters !! Yesssssss on the Midas !

Yea the Midas is pretty eye catching... So he will most likely be on the list.

QUOTE (n0rk @ Nov 27 2009, 07:49 AM) *
Personally I'd be wary of the Potter's and the Coral Beauty together, as well as the Convict and the Japonicus. I've heard too many instances of both going sour, and comparatively very few success stories. Also, I tend to hear of people struggling to keep less than about 9 of the Threadfin Cardinals, they seem to enjoy picking one another off below that number. No problem there though, they look gorgeous in a larger grouping.

Nice list overall, mate.

Yea, I'm totally aware of the risk of a Potters/Beauty together, so it is already a very slim chance, but I do know some local reefers who are housing 2 Centropyges in similar sized aquarium with good results.

I have housed Japonicus before quite well, hand fed, model citizen. The convict is about the only other tang I woud want to try in this tank, but still doing some reading up on them before making any final decisions.

Thanks for the tip on the Cardinals, I'll keep that in mind!

I've never been a fan of Bangaii's... They just seem to float in the same spot forever!!! hahaha laugh.gif

well it's my bday to day and i was hopeing for pics of this tank
haha lol nar but it would be 1 of the best bday presies (apart from my RO,20kg salt,8kg sand,4kg LR and 8kg bace rock). smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
JDigital
No tank yet.. but happy belated Birthday! smile.gif
JDigital
Some new pics while I wait for the tank to arrive.

JDigital
I don't remember adding one of these guys to my 30G tank, and none of the rock is from my 75G, so I'm assuming he hitch hiked with the rock I used for this tank, but can't believe I have NEVER seen him before... but welcomed none the less...

JDigital
So I heard a rumor today that my tank might be ready by Friday. I guess only time will tell. smile.gif

Aside from waiting around, I pulled out a spare 20G I had laying around and decided to incorporate it into this system as a fuge/extra water volume. It will be fed from a 1/2" line that I will T off my return pump. Just adding some fresh saltwater to it right now so I can bring some Live Rock home from work tomorrow and start curing it. The rest of my rock will be ordered from BRS, gonna try out their Reef Saver Dry rock.

JDigital
Tank should arrive at the LFS tonight!!

Heading down there in a hour or so to see... biggrin.gif

FINALLY!!... just got home with the tank... and of course it had to be -37C with a windchill today, it felt like insta-frostbite getting the tank from the back of my buddies truck to my basement... Tank is sitting in my storage/laundry room thawing out right now...

Now I need to decided whether or not to do the transfer before I leave for Christmas on the 19th.

Couple crappy pics... I apologize for the mess, like I said, its sort of a storage area. tongue.gif

Hope you guys like it. wink.gif

nemmy
OMG!

Awesome freaking tank!
JDigital
Thanks nemmy...

I had been debating whether I should have gone 16 high with a 14" water line, but too late for that now.. I'm still very happy with the look of it. smile.gif
Llewos
Nice tank.....I love shallows, they are my favorite too. Who's your LFS? I'm in Cranbrook B.C. and go to Calgary quite often. Who do you recomend?

My LFS is called Red Coral Aquarium. It's in the NW by Northland Mall. I'd recommend them, however I am a bit bias since I work there on Sundays.. laugh.gif Great store though, the staff is top notch and won't try and send you home with something you don't need or aren't ready for (if people are just getting started).

Give me a shout if your gonna be in anytime soon. smile.gif
Colione
whoooaa! That's an awesome looking tank. can't wait to see it filled.

*phew*.. Glad you guys like it... Buddies at the LFS thought it looked "weird".. laugh.gif

This is going to be a sweet setup. Love the tank. The stocking list looks great as well. You're going to have a lot of color and a lot of movement that are really going to look nice.

Beautiful tank. Keep us updated with lots of pics! cool.gif

I'll be watching this close ... I'm trying to decide the height for my next build, which is looking like it might be 125g. Right now, it's 20" ... but I might chop a few of those inches off after seeing yours with rocks in it.

I WANT to set it up... but I leave on Saturday for 10days... fishytime will be tank sitting, but I'd feel bad leaving him with a freshly transferred tank.

I tried to come up with a stocking list that would provide me with exactly what you just described, lots of motion (since SPS doesn't give much.. laugh.gif ).. Don't worry about pics.. wink.gif

Currently I am trying to plan the transfer.. Seeing as I got 2 experienced reefers for tank sitters over the christmas holidays, I feel fairly safe doing it. Just limited on equipment (powerheads/heaters) and time (i leave saturday)

I've got close 60-70G of water ready, 28G from the cube, 15G from a temp tank I have LR cooking in, 5-7G from my current sump and about 20G of fresh made SW...

Just figuring out where I am gonna house my fish and coral during the transfer is tricky part as the transfer will probably take alot of tomorrow and some of wednesday.

anyways, back to planning.. smile.gif
pismo_reefer
This is gonna be sooo cool.
JDigital
I'm going ahead with the transfer tomorrow... hope to take down the 30 (livestock in orig tank water, heaters, powerhead) take the 30G off the stand, finish bolting the extension, drop the 105G on the new stand and load up the 105 with 40% new SW, New LR(pre-cooked), Old LR(recently pulled from 30G), fish, Old tank water. Basically a large Water change that requires a new tank.. haha.

I'm pretty sure that as long as I keep my temps and pH of old and new water the same, the transfer should go smooth. I'll fire up the carbon as soon as everything is in the new tank, maybe pickup a 2nd phosban for Rowaphos (not really in the budget). Obviously some of the SPS will be upset, and lighting will be ghetto until I get back.

Will try and get some pics for you guys tomorrow as I work my way through it! fingersx01.gif

Maybe.... just thinking... visually.

1-2 Serranocirrhitus latus:

4-5x Apogon leptacanthus:

1x Ecsenius stigmatura:

1x Ecsenius midas:

A midas blenny in a shallow tank is a big no-no. They don't call them "rock skippers" for nothing!
JDigital
So here is where I am at this morning...

30G is SHUTDOWN! Emptied the LR w/ attached coral to a 30G Brute trash can/5G bucket with tank water (heaters/powerheads too). 2 Clowns are in the 5G alone, the other guys are in the Brute trash can...

Old sump has been pulled and needs a clean up BAD! sooo many feather dusters!! I'll end up using this tank as my ATO reservoir later.

Just got my roommate to help me toss the 105G up on the stand.. So far I've added about 25G of fresh SW.. I think I might be a bit short on my water supply so I am making up a new 15G batch just in case.

Only got pics of the tank empty on the stand.... You guys will have to wait for the rest... wink.gif

Thanks.. I think I'll really like it..

So... after a lot of work and a lot of stress yesterday, everything is in the tank and recovering. Slowly been adding fresh saltwater through out the day today and will continue until I get up to the return.. I'm waiting for my baffles to finish converting the 30G cube into my sump.. As you can see, fits like a glove. Now the hunt is on to find a skimmer short enough to do the job.

Started doing the plumbing tonight. Herbie overflow.. etc etc.. Can't get to far on the plumbing until the sump is baffled. Dunno why I made this B&W, but thought it would be a neat change.
