I am curious how many people really shield all new corals from their lights. This includes sps, lps, and softies. How puts in this much effort every single time?

an easier way is just have them chill at the bottom of the tank where it gets the least light, and move it up little by little.

+1, but then again I use PC lights and not MH. Never had a problem but that might be the difference.

Works great for softies and LPS, for yumas you may even want to start them in a shadier spot as well. For SPS it's a bit different though, depends on the piece and the color on it.

I've never used egg-crate or placements to acclimate new corals.......

I dim my lights wink.gif
