Quick test vid at 720p Be sure to the HD button

That looks amazing, especially for night shot with high ambient light and then on youtube.

Thanks alot guys. I was really impressed with the quality in low light especially since i wasnt using a fast lens.I also love the fact you have full control over all settings.

I uploaded this quick test. Its not much but i just wanted to see the video quality@60 frames a second. All i can say is WOW.

Yeah wow!
I can't believe how fast these cameras are evolving.

Awesome shots and music biggrin.gif. I lived in NY for 4 years and this made me really miss it.

Rehype
Thanks alot guys smile.gif I might go this weekend to shoot some more.

I picked up the Canon 15-85IS to replace my 18-55IS as my primary walkaround lens.So far im very impressed with the sharpness throughout the focal range. The IS is silent and the USM is incredibly fast.

On a side note Just wanted to share a high iso shot taken with the 7D. Heres a shot of taken at ISO 2000

holy jesus

Thanks Vic. I was really surprised when i checked the EXIF. I know since its resized for nano-reef noise isnt as apparent but even the full res file is very clean.

I'm very jealous mad.gif
Why would you want two image recording devices if one does both jobs sufficiently well. Its nice to have the capabilities of both a DSLR and video in one package.

I read on engadget that Saturday Night Live used the 7D to shoot the opening sequence for this season as well some of the sketches. After seeing your video I think I'm sold.

I'm sold on it, that's for sure. It sucks that I won't be able to afford it for another 10 years, but at least I have something to save for smile.gif

I agree granted its not as easy to use as a camcorder but if your willing to put forth the extra effort you can get some really nice results. I was tired of caring around an slr and a hd cam so it just made alot of sense for me.

I've missed you guys, all this Canon talk! Rehype, congrats on the 7D, did you keep your 5DMKII, I hope?
I am just starting to really love my 5DMKII as I've learned so much since my son was born, 7 months ago, and the class I'm in is helping as well for me to get better exposure in my shots etc...I even bought a flash, the 580EXII. I don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll go back to video talk...

What are you using, workflow wise, to get your video from the CF Card to Online etc...?
I haven't played much with the video yet, but plan to, on my 5DMKII, here is a sample shot I took a few months ago, my tank and first fishes...just gives folks and idea of the HD Quality these cameras that Canon are making!

Don't forget to click the HD version.

I used Adobe Encoder CS4 to convert it to YouTube HD quality, some option they have, so I think the video is not as clear as "could be" with a different conversion.

I got rid of the 5D2 a while back because i was starting to reach the crop factor but after having the 7D a few months the IQ just wasnt what i was used to(Especially from ISO 800 and above) I guess once youve used the 5D its hard to switch back. Everything else about the 7D is incredible but when it comes down to IQ the 5D2 is pretty hard to beat.

As far as workflow i edit most of the smaller vids in imovie and upload straight to youtube if its something larger i use final cut pro.

Nice vid BTW

Ahh ok, well I'll be joining you soon with the iMovie and Final Cut Pro, once they announce the new Mobile i5 Chips, I'll be on the list to buy one, didn't want to buy a MBP and then they turn around and release a new refresh, so I hear its coming soon, maybe the end of the month, I hope. The PC workflow is a lot more involved for some, and everyone has their own way, so I thought I'd ask.

What do you mean you were "starting to reach the crop factor"...?
I'd love to have a 7D as a 2nd body...like most here would, its under consideration, since I don't think there is justification for a 1DMKIV...and that amount of green.

Glad to get back to talking photography with you all.
Rehype
I meant to say i was missing the additional reach of the crop factor laugh.gif The 1DMKIV would honestly be the best of both worlds although i could never justify spending that much on a body unless i was being paid for my work.

Exactly. We can dream though. So you thinking of getting the full frame back? huh.gif
