Hello everyone here is my 1st post!! I recently bought an aquapod 24gal from a local reef guy and I am in the process of setting it up. I currently have 10lbs of sand and a few small pieces of carribean rock to get everything cycling. It has been running for approx 2 weeks. Now my big questions are filtration and water movement. I plan on using a MJ1200 for the return pump and a Koralia 1 or 2 for in tank (MP10 out of my budget at this point). I also plan on putting phoslock or ROWAphos and also carbon in micron bags and put them in one of the rear chambers. I would really like to run the stock pc hood and still get a quality skimmer to fit with the hood on. I have read good reviews on the sapphire and nothing but bad things of the fission skimmer. Any other suggestions?? For future stock i plan on a couple clowns, anemone, 2 firefish, a few choice corals, and a small clean up crew.

Not certain if it will fit with the hood closed, but perhaps worth a look.
If you decide to get one, share your experiences here if ya would, might be a good choice of skimmer for others to look at.

The sapphire is the way to go. It works very well and fits under the stock hood nicely. The fisson sucks and the aquatic life isn't compatible for the AP24. Its too big and the collection cup doesn't fit. You would have to go hood-less to use it.

If you want a skimmer that works AND fits under the stock canopy your only real option is sapphire.

(Full disclosure: I am actually selling mine, I am using a skimmer in the sump now)
