Just set it up yesterday. I went with 30 lbs of live sand about 25lbs of live rock. I love the lighting and pretty much everything about the tank. Now i guess I just have to hurry up and wait......I'm leaving on vacation for 12 days next Wednesday, is there anything I should do like have someone come to check on it? I have the lights on timers with 8 hours of hqi lighting and 8 hours of the led night lighting. Is that necessary while cycling or would less be ok? I have a couple pictures i took with my iphone and I'll be posting more when it's worth it. Any advice would be appreciated. Oh ya. the live rock has a couple of very small anenomis on them is that ok?

it's going great! I'll put sone more pictures up tonight. I hve a clown fish, a bubble anemone, hammer coral, and a muhroom in there. Also a Sally light foot crab and ten red leg hermets. All water test are where they should be and I have kh and calcium additives with test kits for the corals. I'm looking forward to adding some sps corals. The rock I bought had a ton of purple algae allready and it's been growing.

This picture shows my bubble anemone, three zoanthids, towards the top you can see a green spotted mushroom and a sunset montipora. The montipoora will take a month or two until it gets to full color. I just put it in yesterday. My lfs told me the 1-2 month time frame for coloration.

i may just trade it to a friend for some frags, it can open up kinda big and I want to eventually have more corals and it Just takes up quality space anyway. They're neat to watch eat and eveything but I dont want it to die and pollute the tank.

It's not fully opened in this picture but the colors are amazing when it is. I have been talking to people about the bta, and they didn't seem to have such a negative opinion on them as some people on these forums. They need proper lighting and a stable water conditions to stay healthy. My tank has been very consistant with the testing I've done and I only have two fish in there currently. My calcium levels have been perrfect and the alkalinity needs to be supplemented which I've been told is normal. I'm using Seachem reefbuilder to keep the kh up. The hammer coral is in the process of splitting one of the existing heads and has sprouted tiny buds off the sides! kinda exciting.

I had never come across your tank thread before. I have a 28g nano as well, good to see that you've posted again, all to often I see peoples tank threads die. The sunset Monti looks very healthy. If you have not seen it already, I have a great upgrade for this tank. You can check it out here;

Same tank in my avatar but you can not see anything, too much coraline. Did you get a chiller too?
Looks like a very nice start, I like the aquascape.
Be careful with BTA, I agree your tank is too young, and this tank get crowed fast. If in the future you want sps you may have a problem with the BTA.
Nice start and nice tank.

Ya, my bta started to get to big. It started off so small but before long it had like a 6" diameter. It was always very healthy looking though. I ended up trading it to a friend. I'd rather use the space for coral. It was basically taking up A whole corner of the tank. I havn't gotten a chiller, the temp in my tank stays very constant with hardly any interaction. I've used a fan once or twice when the weather was a bit warmer. I just rigged a computer fan from radioshack to sit on the back of the tank.

http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=225857Thanks, ya Im glad you like the tank. The Monti took some time to get to where it is. It had ups an downs. When I got it it was just brown with hardly any polyps. Now it's starting to encrust everything around it. I'm going to be adding some more pictures later if I get some time.
