i think i have grape caulerpa in my 2nd section of the solana which came with my chaeto is it possible for it to spread into the main tank

Yes. Bits breaking off or a spawning event would do it.

If you don't want caulerpa in your display, you shouldn't have it anywhere in the system. If you don't mind caulerpa, leave it.
