im trading a toadstool of mine and wanted to know the best way to take it off the rock without leaving any so it wont grow back, (i plan on putting some other coral in its place) i know you can cut them and whatnot, but can it be pulled off the rock maybe? thanks in advance

the safest way would be to try and scrape the rock under it with a blade or something, you def dont wanna squeeze and pinch it off because leathers release toxins into the water when they are stressed. that also means i wouldnt do kalk or epoxy on the spot either

I have used a SMALL tip screwdriver or something similar and a hammer to tap around the base of corals but if you don;t want to break the rock you have be careful. Hit it once on 4 sides and keep working that around until you get it to fall off.

NO if there is any small pc. of it left on the rock it will probably grow back. Reef rock is usually soft enough to take a nice stiff blade and be able to dig a pc. of rock out around the base.

Okay I am wondering then it you can take a sharp blade, xacto knife, razor knife, and cut the base of the coral as close to the rock as possible. Then use something like a Kalk paster, epoxy, super glue gel to finish off the area. Hopefully someone else will chime in here.

You can try that, but there's still the chance of toxin release. Depending on the size of your tank vs the toadstool, you may or may not need to worry about it. You could probably just run some fresh carbon at the time of cutting.
Or, if you're still paranoid and due for a water change, use a siphon hose with the end near the place you're gonna cut. Siphon out the water as you cut, set TS aside, then try to remove whatever pieces left behind that you can, siphoning them out.

i tihnk im just gonna say f it and cut it near the base of the stalk, then let it grow back i guess, i have a couple monti caps that would shade anything i put in the toads place anyway...
