Is it legal to fly within the states with coral in your possession? I would love to take some frags up north to my mom the next time I go visit.

I believe it is, a while ago people were using an insulated thermos and checking it with their luggage. Maybe try a search.

Shorthand: Corals legal? No state laws banning the transport of non-quarantined animals legal? If yes to both, you're good.

Yes you can but you will have to check it in at the ticket counter as TSA won't let through security with any liquids.

But do you think there is potential to be harassed about it? Would I need a heat pack because the planes cargo is so cold? Thanks for the replies.

If it is in an insulated container (thermos or hard styrofoam), you don't need any heat packs.

Hawaii is a big no no for this. Other than that and the usual BS from TSA aside you should be fine.
