Really curious to hear what everyone is doing with their RKL or RKE controllers...

Here's my setup on my 6g:
RKL
PC4 Module
SL2 Module
iTemp Probe
pH Probe
Salinity Probe
ReefKeeper ATO

Lighting: On 12p - 10p / Off temp above 81
ATO w/ alarm
Return Pump: Standby during feeding
Heater: On below 77.5
Monitor salinity, pH, Temp

Milamber
Do you have pics of your set up?
I thought a RKL would be overkill on a 6gal tank.

Do you need SL2 to have the ATO with the temp, or can you just use the standard?

I have a RKL and loving it so far, the only problem is I cant seem to figure out how to use the moon lights with the SL1 if any one has any info on how to set SWA and SWB to moon lights that would be great

I am using 3 pc4's along with the sl1 not really doing anything special
lights heater fans return pump skimmer vortechmp10 fuge light

Overkill, maybe, but I plan to upgrade the tank once the contest is over and I figured I could use a little help keeping such a small tank stable. The RKL L1 is also only $99 so that's a great start if you're considering purchasing one, just for the temp monitoring and timer capabilities alone.

I don't have any pics of the setup but will take some next time I'm back there. I basically have the tank on the top of a bookshelf with the modules and everything mounted on the back and the head unit mounted on the side, very sleek, can't see a thing.

I also run a RKL with a SL1 module on my 40g tank.

SWA and SWB are inputs, not outputs. You will need the MLC module for moonlight control.

I'm currently running and RKE with:

2x PC4
SL1
Temp probe
Ph probe

Adding more modules for other tanks soon, including an ALC smile.gif

Just got mine yesterday, but I have it controlling lights, light fixture fan, tank cooling fan, and soon the heater. So basically I am just using it for temp control and a light timer. I would really like another PC4 so I could have an effective feed mode, though (all pumps off for 15 min or so). Come to think of it, I'd also like an SL2, ATO kit, and pH and salinity probes as well... I see now DA's master plan of selling the $100 RKLs wink.gif

If you buy the RKL ONLY, and never upgrade anything, the benefit is you will be able to temperature control your tank with precision. Heaters are unreliable and inaccurate, and if one fails, your tank is done. Also, most people run fans daily when it is really not needed. Running the cooling fan all day makes more water evaporate, and can fight the heater. The RKL can control your fan and heater to keep the tank at a set temperature. It can also turn off your lights if the tank gets too hot (maybe if your A/C breaks while you are gone, for example).

If you upgrade in the future, it can do all sorts of cool things, like dosing, ATO, pH monitoring, salinity monitoring, control a true 28 day moonlight cycle, etc etc.

If you get an RKL, can you get the PH probe or other probes later? I haven't seen the probes for sale anywhere I looked...

Yes, you can get everything later.

the RKL/RKE modules that accept a ph probe can accept any standard probe, such as the quite common Pinpoint probes.
