Is it worth it?

Thanks!!

Call perfecto and make sure their warranty is still good if its sitting on an Oceanic stand, and make sure a Perfecto tank can sit on an Oceanic stand.

I ran into a problem putting an All Glass 90-gallon on a Perfecto stand... as it turns out the perfecto stand is 1/4" too small around where the glass meets the stand and All Glass says its a matter of time before my tank bursts a seam due to half of the glass frame sitting on the stand and half not touching anything... all thanks to a LFS that i'll never go back to again...

Thank you, I never thought about this. It turns out that the customer service hotline closed down about 5 minutes ago, so they couldn't answer my call. But, I sent them an e-mail. Otherwise, does this seem like a good deal?

Bump.

Yes.

Ok, thanks. How much do these run new?
shmoopy
hmm seems kinda high, ive seen better deals than that here in Dallas. In fact there is a 100g with lights and stand for $200 and a 55 with lights and stand for $175 right now
Ryan_H
that looks like a nice stand, probably worth upwards of $300, maybe even $500 if it's oceanic, and usually the tank alone runs about $300 new. sounds like a deal to me, at least if the tank's never seen water.

Those are used though.

Okay, thank you. I'm just worried about the warranty and it breaking, etc. now.

perfecto only warranties the silicone seems, not the glass. i know this from a customer that had the back of a 55 explode after about a year. i would bet $1 million that it was 100% something she did, but perfecto's story was that even though it was on their stand they only warranty the silicone job against leaks, not the glass. if it comes down to an issue of it leaking, just tell them it's on their stand. they aren't going to come out to your house and inspect it.

So will this tank fit on the stand properly? I don't want it to come 1/4 an inch off the stand and then it explode.

Oceanic uses thicker glass and thicker trim on their tanks, if anything the stand will be slightly bigger than the tank--which shouldn't be a problem with the way oceanic builds their stands. you can always check before you give the guy your money anyway.

I might need to...

haha i meant to delete that. i was going to say that many oceanic stands have a solid top with a hole towards the center for the off-set overflows they come with, and you might need to cut a new hole for the corner overflow plumbing. but the pictures of the stand look like a different design than i was thinking of.
