After 20 minutes of being on hold and being asked "umm, what are you holding for?" by 4 different people, I was talking to the "vice-regional representative" which is a fancy-pants way of saying "the guy that gets chewed-out by the owners."
This cocky SOB screws up BIGTIME....
He tells me exactly what happened:1) My laptop sat in the store for
7 days.2) Was then shipped "Freight" for
8 days to San Francisco!
*I coulda walked it there faster!3) Sat in a "holding bin" for 14 days @ the BestBuy service center.
*no one touched it.4) Was then shipped 'next-day' to the
Toshiba Service Center for actual repair.
5) Toshiba fixed in the same day, and next-day'd it back the the BestBuy store.
*this is when i SHOULD have been called to pick it up.But,6) SOMEONE (we dont know who yet), decided it needed "the bottom cover and LED's replaced", for no reason at all, and SHIPPED IT BACK OUT TO BESTBUY's SC to start the whole process over again....

7) Somehow makes it back to the TOSHIBA center... (which was it's
current location.)
He then, gives me the name of the service center, the phone number, and the name of the center's site manager....
I called them, great guy.

seriously.....
He filled me in on
BestBuy's Insurance fraud scam...Apparently, the guy i was talking to was the Site Manager of the
Toshiba Service Center.Now why, if I sent my machine thru bestbuy, to bestbuy's service center, is it at Toshiba's Service center now???

The Site manager proceeds to tell me about how bestbuys scam is to,"mandatorily hold the device for 2weeks in their center. In this two weeks it just sits in a bin, no one touches it at all. then, they claim 'the center is too busy to get to it in time', and send it out
TO THE MANUFACTURER, UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARANTY!...
The scam behind this, as i would find out, is...
It cost's BestBuy NOTHING to send it to the manufacturer under warranty....it's FREE.
Just like if you or me we're to have sent it there.It cost's me $300 for the 2yr. insurance policy.
I could have sent the computer to Toshiba myself for free and NEVER used my insurance.
(and got the comp back in 7 days!)
When i told the bestbuy people this, and what happened,
they refused to
fully refund the money I paid for the insurance i never used.
claiming that "since it sat in their service center's bin, it was technically 'seen'"....
I said, "alright then. I'll sue you for the policy money, damages to the machine, and personal suffering, If my attorney can squeeze it."
Manager told me, on a recorded phone call, " I dare you."
Right now, I have an attorney filing suit, and im joining a class-action suit against bestbuy for doing this to hundred's of other people....
sh*t... when i actually went into BB to get my computer, The guy in front of me in line was yelling at the customer service person, for not accepting his computer game returns "because they were bootlegs", but the guy had proof that he bought them from the store.... on top of that, the lapto
he was getting serviced for his daughter, had been STOLEN off the GeekSqaud counter, on camera!
(some IDIOT left this poor girl's $2,000 laptop on the counter and it got swiped. No one noticed 'til the next day, when they looked up the service number and watched the video....)
