Our tank is just about two months old and we have just had an outbreak of cyanobacteria that I would like to nip in the bud. The tank is a 29g biocube with stock pump and lighting. We only have a fire shrimp, a small mushroom colony, 2 turbos, 2 astreas and 3 blue legged hermit crabs. I have target fed the shrimp a couple of times, but other than that have only put in a a tiny pinch of food to feed the brine shrimp twice (the advice of our lfs). Params appear to be good - have been stable for our weekly testing:

nitrate = 0
phosphate = 0
ammonia = 0
calcium = 600
alkalinity = 10 KH
pH = 7.8
temp = 75-78
water change: 5g every two weeks

There is a good deal of detrital build up that I assume has come from the die off of the hair algae. Is this outbreak part of the normal series of algal blooms (although its not an algae) or do we need to change things up? I have read other posts saying that excess nutrients and poor water quality are the main culprits, but haven't detected that with our water testing at all. All the parameters check out and we don't even have any fish yet. Any advice other than more water changes and not feeding the shrimp?

search button exists for a reason. I typed in cyanobacteria and I found tons of useful info.

^+1 also adding more flow, used R/O water for everything and added MicroBacter7 is what worked for me.
