So I just set up my 75g two weeks ago and I have been offered to trade my non-reef ready tank for a RR 90g.
My issues though...
My lighting is a 36" current T5HO 4 bulb fixture. How much of a difference does the extra depth make?
Can I close off the overflow drains for now until I'm ready for a sump?
Right now I'm leaning towards keeping the 75 because it's shallower and the 90 won't really open new fish up to me.
Thoughts?

Same footprint, the 90 is just taller Ryan.

What are the dimensions of the 75? Is it a typical 48x15x24? If so, do you know what the dimensions of the 90 are? A typical 90 is only an inch taller at 48x18x25. The extra width though is a bonus in my opinion, as is the built-in plumbing.
I suppose it comes down to if you want to put in the extra work or not. I assume you will be trading stands? How nice is the other stand compared to yours?
*Edit* I just noticed that you mentioned you have 36" lights... Is your tank custom to be 36" wide? I've heard about some tanks which are like 36x24x20 or something like that. If you've got a really wide tank I would probably just keep it then.

Yeah, the built in plumbing and 4 inches of extra height are what the 90 has going for it. I have a sump that I can section off, but I won't have my stand skinned for another month at least. Plus I don't have a return pump right now.
I guess it does come down to if 4 39W T5HO bulbs can sustain life on the sandbed of the 90.
I really want the 90, but I think I'm pushing it now with the 75.

i'd keep the 75 I am a bigger fan of shallow tanks and plus you won't have to upgrade your lights...or upgrade it as much if you want to look at it that way.

I have a 75(48X18X20). With a 90 you would really want a 6 bulb fixture. How bad are the shadows with your 36" fixture?
