I bought mine for $249.99 and I thought that it was expensive, but $400 does seem pretty inflated.

Man that price sucks. Pm this guy:
http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showuser=2493He has a group buy going till 11/1 and the mp-10 is $175 shipped. I am sure shipping would be a lot more for you but it would still be cheaper. Idk the laws and if this is even possible but it's worth a shot.

Great pump. I have had mine running for a few weeks now and the corals love it. I can get them here for about 175 shipped if you look to one of the group buys. That's about 185 australian dollars with the currency tool. The only trouble I had was with the disconnect setup. My pump kept stalling after I set it up. I read through the articles on the ecotech website and it said that when you set up the disconnect to make sure you remove the dry side from the aquarium glass. The best way to do this is to hold the dry side in your hand while the pump is calibrating. That was it bing bang boom and no problem since then. Runs smooth and quiet for me. I have to put my ear up to it when it is night mode to hear it.

Amazing for my t ank (29 gallon BC)..
Only downfall is if you upgrade you may need more pump.. I am thinking of going to a 67 gallon, and I think I may add a second MP10 if I do... (I really love the Mp10 model)

Mine came with a switching power supply. Which works with the 110 and 240.
Haggis
Oct 24 2009, 06:30 PM
I can confirm that it will work on a 230V supply. But I suggest you do what I did and import one from the states. Even with the import tax which I got caught for it was way cheaper than buying locally - plus they weren't available in the UK or Ireland at that time.
m05tw4nt3d
Oct 24 2009, 09:46 PM
thats a good point if i buy one from the states will i just need to buy a travel adapter for the plug, i dont need any converters do i as we run on 240 volt can someone that has one check please??

levitationDrew
Oct 25 2009, 12:46 AM
Travel adapter will work fine with it. If you have some spare Aussie power supplies I bet you can find a plug cord that will work with the US power supply. I have done this with my apple laptop when traveling to the UK. As for setup it is very straight forward. You need to find which setting works best with your tank. I like being able to give my corals a break at night with the night mode. Read what I posted earlier about the disconnect setup. There is a ton of info out there for the vortech pumps. Check out the ecotech website for downloads of the manual and spec sheet in PDF form. I must of read them a dozen times waiting to get mine in the mail. Clean your glass very well where you will place it. Make sure there is no air bubbles in between the wet side and the glass.

Measure the thickness of the tanks glass and use the spacer as instructed (if necessary).

my tanks 6 ml thick 1 quater inch will i need to use this space and what is it for
882m4
Oct 25 2009, 01:05 AM
For glass thicknesses of 1/8" and 3/16" you must use the rubber spacer, but you don't have to for glass thats 1/4" or 3/8". Setup wise it's very easy just align the wet side so that you don't hear any vibrations or loud noises and then just mess with the setting a little to find what you or your coral like, I used reef crest on my tank.

Mine was at first as it was breaking in, but after a few days it was very quiet, as the motor spins faster it does make some noise but nothing very loud.

If you follow the directions, allign the pump properly, and start it up as directed, you should be fine.
Read the directions. You should be up and running in 20 minutes.

Not to close to the sand. Because then you will get a dust storm. And not to close to the top. Because then you will get air sucked down into the impeller which will give you a bubbly tank. Most of the tank pictures with a vortech look like they are always on a narrow end of the tank and just slightly above center of the glass and in the middle side to side.

My MP10 runs flawlessly, more than enough adjustable circulation and keeps my tank clean! Vortech's are the best... You need a MP10... So buy it!

A watched pot never boils. Try reading the manual again. And clean the glass where you are to place it. And tidy up those wires so you can find a spot to put the controller. That should help you out with not watching the mailbox.

I just bought one from Ebay last week. Just got it today!!!
In NZ it was going to cost just under NZ$600 at the retail shop. We get ripped off here too!!!
As it is I got mine for half that price, AND what's great is that the power pack can run on 100v - 240v. If you have a spare computer power cable, you can plug this into the power pack and you will then have the proper plug!

Hi, just put mine in a new tank I'm building and it works a charm. In a later topic someone described the sound like a wind up toy, and yes it does sound a little like that for the moment. I'm waiting on what support has to say about it in the topic.
As for the power, I changed the one supplied with an AUS/NZ standard (Normal) computer power cable. You know, the one that plugs into a big computer, not a laptop. You can get these from any computer store, even Dick Smiths. Just ask for a computer power cable.
I'm 100% happy with the MP10 and would highly recommend these powerheads to anyone.

levitationDrew
Nov 5 2009, 04:45 AM
Same thing happened to me with the red flashing lights after I had setup the disconnect feature. The red flashing indicates a pump disconnect. From what I've read around the forums about the mp10 you should not set up the disconnect feature. I think one of the ecotech reps wrote back someone who inquired that if it disconnects you are going to notice it. Most setups with an mp10 have only the one in the tank so if it comes off you will notice it without the controller flashing at you. I know the difference between feed mode and whatever mode it's normally on. No motion in the tank would make me take notice that something is up. I think this was designed as a feature for multiple vortechs in a tank so you know which one has become disconnected and can see the warning light flashing. The mp10 functions correctly on my tank without the disconnect setup. If the wet side falls in the tank and the pump stays running I wouldn't think any damage to anything would come of it. As long as you have the pump properly mounted with the cord secured above it to the glass.
