i have a 20 head torch coral and want to frag it, i was wondering
how do i brake them off from there skeleton, with out damaging
the coral.
Yves
Hack-saw it up or just break it at the branches.

I have accidentially fragged mine by trying to wedge it into the rocks. Everything was just fine so I say break it. A 20 head torch coral would cost a fortune here. How much did you pay for it and how old is it?
ivanrm
caulastrea, trumpet coral, torch coral, candy cane. this is the
coral that i have not the euphyllia torch coral. i paid about
30 bucks here in chicago and had it for about one month.

sweet. A chisel and hammer would work, breaking it could cause erratic patterns , You could use a dremel?

More like amazing! It sells for about $15 per head around here!

I recommend a dremel....if you try to cut it with bone cutters or wire cutters or something it can cause it to split like a green stick, thus tearing the flesh to pieces....also, if you are cutting near the flesh, cut the flesh with a razor blade.....

I've cut them many times and never had a problem that way....

A dremel is too time consuming with something that can be accurately clipped with wire clippers in a fraction of the time. biggrin.gif

IMO you can usually just break off the stalks...requires no tools other than ur *gloved* hand.

if you plan on doing it alot you can get a small bansaw at harbor frieght for cheap. Works great on alot of diff corals

Tile saw.... Nice clean cut.
