Hey,
My clownfish looks all lethargic and kinda out of it. Upon further observation i saw a white string of poop dangling. I thought i saw that same thread of poop yesterday.
He didn't even get excited when I teased him with food. Can he be constipated? What should I do?
I've had this guy for 3+ years.

Have you added anything new to the tank recently? What are your water parameters?

Yeah,
I added a smaller clown fish that is 1/4 his size 2 weeks ago. They don't bother each other at all and host the torch coral at night. There is also a bicolor blenny and a green clown goby in my 40 gallon
As for testing. I haven't tested in years. I'm thinking the new clown brought in some kind of internal parasite. But how did my old clown contract it?
Weird thing is the new clown wasn't eating and finally did a few days ago. This is the same time my other clown started behaving differently.

Question is does anybody know how the parasite found a new host?
Also, i've been reading about maracyn. Anybody have any ideas of how to treat the situation? I'm quite fond of the guy and don't want to lose him. That was my first fish.

I've had success with both maracyn and maracyn II but make sure u dose in a hospital tank. It says you can dose your main tank with no problems but I wouldn't.
