Not sure, think its cyano, but still not positive. Its a light brown algea that covers the bottom of the tank, and when i stir the sandbed or syphon it off it reappears extremely fast, sometimes within hours. Any ideas of what it is and how it can be controlled??? Thanks

Sounds like diatoms, how long has your tank been set up? If it's new then diatoms are normal, you can get some cerith snails to help stir things up and eat it if you want.

Tank has been running since late june 09', but took forever to cycle about 2 full months. I definitley need a better clean up crew though. Only got 2 turbos and a hermit in right now.

You should hit up John at reefcleaners.org and get a custom cleanup crew. I thought I was getting a decent deal at my LFS at 20 for $20 but I followed the recommendations of several people here and John hooked me up like you wouldn't believe. The dwarf ceriths he sells are great for nanos/picos because they keep the sandbed/rocks/glass clean and are small enough to clean a tiny precariously placed frag without moving anything.

Ok thanks I'll check it out
