I have caught my porcelain crab several times now picking at small stalks of my blue anthelia with his claws, ripping them off and eating them. Have others had similar experiences?

Really a porcelain crab? Usually they are filter feeders. Got any pics?

Could be it's not getting enough filter feeder type food so it's finding another source.

Well, I will try to capture a video of the attacks. It may not be getting enough "filter feeder type food" I don't know of any way to determine this, but it usually picks up a few pieces when I feed my fish.

I don't either but my anemone crab (closely related) goes crazy with the filtering appendages when I feed the tank Rod's Food coral blend. I haven't seen it pick anything off the rocks though, come to think of it the only time I saw it move it's claws was when it was first introduced and the clownfish got too close.
