Finally got some pictures of my 3g Pico with custom LED lighting. Was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback as to why my ricordias never really open up much. Could it be too much light for them?

can you give me all the specs of your custom LED fixture? Are they cree xr-e? What power are you running them at? Etc

Yes, they are cree xr-e, four royal blues, and three bright whites. As far as power I am running them at...I pretty much have them as bright as they go. I have tried turning them down but it didn't have much effect on the rics.

How long have they been in the tank under the LED lighting?
Sometimes it takes corals some time to adjust... I have had many richordia that just took a while to adjust to the light I was using as oppose to what they were under at the LFS...
What kind of tank is that though?

i have heard that ricordea, mushrooms, and zoas seem to get smaller under LED lighting because of the intensity. you could try acclimating it with a screen over that area?

Turn the LED's way down for a week and slowly adjust up from there.
I run my unit at less then half power and all my corals are happy now. My ric's and zoo's just don't open at higher levels.Something with the intensity of light because to the naked eye it doesn't look like much but to cameras and coral

I agree. It's probably just way too much light for them. That's a nice little setup though.
