blogger was easier, lol. also, google will rule the earth one day, so I'm trying to get on the inside track. blogger jives better with feedburner and analytics.
DHaut
yes yes yes. but what about the AESTHETICS?

That must be the 20% gay that you are not.
jeremai
blah blah blah
DHaut
Exactly.
jeremai
so I'm upgrading the lighting on the tank. if anyone says I told you so I'm banning them to hades.

I'm thinking 2x150w MH, then gutting one of the PC fixtures I have now for actinic supplementation. now, to find a high-quality 2x150w system...
el fabuloso
Tank is looking great! I would never guess that was caliche in there. laugh.gif

I told you so

I'm curious on the 150 covering the 24" tank. Hopefully you have yours in place before I'm ready to light my 24" wide tank. I hate to pay for 3x250s if 3x150s is enough. Good luck in the light search.
travisurfer
I like this tank. happy.gif
jeremai
well, a while back I had a 135g with 3x150s, and the lighting was sufficient on the sand for happy clams. I'm not an sps guy, so being able to keep happy brains on the sand and happy montis in the top half is all I'm looking for.

oh wait, you mean front to back? yeah, the back half of the tank is just rock, so I figure the light only has to cover a 16" or so spread. piece of cake.

Good point. I think I'll probably go with 3x150s for $$$$'s sake. If it needs more light later I'll add t5.

I like the blog, btw. Pretty cool.
jeremai
just added a new post to fickle waters ninja.gif

Wow. Great tank! I love the copperband!

am i an ass for laughing at that?
jeremai
meh, I'm not really that invested. both creatures were a result of the ginger going 'OMG I WANT THAT RIGHT NOW!!!'. plus he paid for em, so whatev.

and now I can get featherdusters!! happydance.gif

that's what I said. but the butterfly is nowhere to be found, and I cannot think of another solution.

mystery.
DHaut
solution 2: the ginger ate the butterfly.
jeremai
sure...

My thoughts exactly.

The guy I bought my 180 from today said he had a carpet anemone that ate an 8" sailfin tang. He took the anemone to the LFS the next day.
jeremai
yeah, mine's going back to the lfs soon too, ginger be damned!
DHaut
I liked the cryptic life blog post.
jeremai
you're always like one day behind, lol.

and thanks. smile.gif

can i get money for directing traffic to your blog? like a dollar for every time i toss a nooblet into fickle waters?

So, a few months ago my significant other and I were talking about my dream tank. I told him it would be a 120g, 4ftx2ftx2ft. Fits perfectly in my house, plus it's deep which makes for great aquascaping, plus it's big enough for a lot of fishies and big, colony-sized corals.

I didn't think anything of it until I open the garage today and see this, where my car is supposed to go:

I was all omgomgomg.gif I can't afford to set up and maintain a tank this large! And he was all cool.gif no worries, I got this. And then I was all it's going to cost like three grand just to get it set up and filled with water, and then he was all mellow.gif.

Now I'm all tears01.gif cause I don't know what to do with the damn thing! And that's why, if we were legally allowed to get married, we would now be getting a divorce. smile.gif

I guess that's why people don't take gay marriage seriously. Really... Aquarium BFD. Its not like he bought it by selling his body on craigslist and gave you a std or something.

... or did he.
DHaut
wat, lol?
lnglostsurfer
Hey, speaking of that urchin...I have two of those that are in my tank and getting quite large...do you have any problems with it knocking anything over or destroying anything? I'm wondering if I need to get rid of mine...

2x175w 6500k Iwasakis. I'm going to gut one of the PC fixtures and use it for actinic supplementation, which would be 4x65w. Too much? I've never used MH and PC together before.

the longest spines on mine are probably eight inches. there's no small frags in the tank, so I don't have to worry about him knocking stuff over. occasionally he does take a tumble and leave a trail of broken spines behind, but nothing too dramatic.

WTF

DHaut
Nice. Congrats on 20K!

#### I wonder what I wasted that post on...

edit: whew, it wasn't in the lounge. that should count for something.

I don't think that's too much wattage but I don't know that 2 65's is going to be enough actinic. You're still going to look pretty yellow. I have an Outer Orbit (150 + 2x 65) and the actinics don't do much to overcome the crappy stock 10000k 150. If you like the yellower side of white, then it'll look great! You'll definitely have good growth.
jeremai
4x65w, not 2x65w. did I say two? oops.

Ok, I was worried about him knocking rocks over and poking holes through my softies. I actually tried to grab him to pull him out and the spines are quite sharp. The longest spines on mine are probably only about four inches right now. But he started like a cm wide when he came on a rock almost a year ago...how big do these things get?

I dunno, I probably misread it. Wouldn't be the first time. Still, that's 2 PCs for each MH. Same ratio as my Outer Orbit.

Either way, the halide will look good, can't beat that shimmer.

I saw one in palau that was probably two feet across, spine tip to spine tip. lol. mine isn't clumsy at all, he's remarkably agile with moving his spines around obstacles.

meh. oh well. there's probably enough room to gut both fixtures, that would be 8x65w...
