Holy Hell those are some nice photos.

My fav is between the mandarin 10th down and the basslet. Major props still to the burrowing shrimp and the chromis.

we think it was their pre-spawning dance.

some sort of commensal crab i think. it had taken over an old christmas tree worm tube.

enjoyin those thunderstorms, eh? tongue.gif

nothing i did, i assure you. i credit my favorite lens and the overwhelming amount of light in the tank. apparently it becomes a lot easier if you can shoot at 1/500 happy.gif

I like the chromis hiding in the birdsnest. Neat crab pic. IIRC, those commensal crabs are a type of hermit that filter feed with their antennae.

I've seen a hermit crab mistake a christmas tree hole for a shell, stayed in there for a long time. I think the fish store spot fed him. I'm assuming that's what that is.

According to the owners of the tank it is a sessile crab not a hermit. It lives in the rock and filter feeds as lakshwadeep said with their antenna.

I've seen a couple before at the LFS in a christmas tree porite rock. They are super cool!

Were those taken with the 18-55 or did you get a new lens? That bokeh is fantastic!

sessile just refers to it's non-mobile habit, it's still a hermit

huh.gif i didn't even shoot a version of that landscape...got a battery grip, and now i'm stuck in vertical mode.

It happens. You'll have to force yourself take landscape shots now.

lol, well besides the obvious quality advantage...

i like using it because i can stand back a bit further, gives the skittish fish a bit more comfort.

of course, i'd rather have the 17-55 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8 IS for most of the fish shots...

oh don...maybe i just went to the zoo tongue.gif
Jamie
HOT

I love the hermit crab. happy.gif
