I added a randalls goby and red candy cane pistol shrimp pair monday.
The goby finally came out and burrows near the front of my tank but i cant seem to find the pistol shrimp at all. havent seem him since acclimation on monday. Should i be worried yet? or am i just impatient?

Give it a couple of days. Pistol shrimps can be very shy. Listen for "pops" at night or when you feed. Also looks for the shrimp hiding behind the fish when it pokes it's head out.
I actually have the reverse of your problem. I seem my little pistol shrimp poke it's head out now and then, but I rarely see the pink stripe goby it is paired with. I thought it (the goby) was dead after not seeing it for months, then one night it just appeared.

Not sure about the candy cane pistol, but my tiger is hardy as hell. Him and the YWG were in my 9 gal for a year. When I moved the 9 gal stuff over to the 34 I found a rusted nail in the sand. The pistol was the only shrimp I was able to keep in the 9. I had a CB and 2 cleaners, both died within a week or two of introducing them to the tank. Originally I just thought the pistol killed them, but now I wonder if the nail had something to do with it. Although I'm pretty sure the pistol killed at least one of the cleaners.
Anyway I'm sure he is fine. Check when the lights are off and also check the sand. My pistol is always moving sand around. Ie he creates a mound of sand on the left after cleaning the burrow on night, wake up the next day and the mound moved to the right. My YWG never moves sand, he is just the bodyguard.

It's probably just hiding in the burrow. Give it a few days or a week or two.

I very rarely see my pistol shrimp. Sometimes when I feed the fish he will come to the edges of his burro, otherwise, I dont see him. But I do see his handywoork on many mornings, when there are piles of sand in my tank.

well the goby has been hangin out at the bottom by the burrow the pistol made. I saw them both chillen yesterday so that was cool... hopefully they stop being shy and come out more often
