How likely is it that a newbie will have success creating nice acrylic display tank? I know I still need to do alot of research, but should I even get my hopes up about making a nice tank? Or should I just get one made by someone else? Basically, this question is how easy is it to work with acrylic & glueing seems, and will a newbie be able to get a nice looking tank? Thanks!

Unless you have the right tools, it won't ever look professional (flame polish/beveled edges etc.)
It depends, Acrylic can be expensive to begin with, so messing it up can be really costly. I would personally just have it made by a reliable company.

Go for it! You hafto get started some way. Id start small though. Whip up a pico tank, then maybe a sump, and sure enough you could probably do a display. Make sure to do your reading and soak it all in first.

search Calvin415's then ask yours aging.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Like others stated before start small and get a handle on how to do it. Use cheap extruded acrylic first to practice and toss before you move onto cast acrylic.

If you have never worked with acrylic before do not attempt to make a fish tank

Depends what you want to do.

If you want a tall tank with crystal clear glued corners then forget DIY.

If you want a short tank with bent corners and design it to be forgiving(maybe black/blue bottom and back) then yes I do think you can do this yourself.

If you go short enough you can even get acrylic you can score and snap.

Thats right. Make one out of glass.

If you wanna do it, then practice first on non-display (or even non-water-holding...) pieces. Good router table makes it a lot easier.
