So I checked ClamsDirect and found a Teardrop I just loved.

priced really well, but after springing for shipping and the box fee, I'm looking at a $120 clam sad.gif I wish shipping didn't cost that much or I'd grab this beaut in a heartbeat. Well I'm done whining. I hope whoever gets this guy enjoys the hell out of him.

(edit) Most stunning clam I've seen to date.

I just spent $120 on a 1.5" maxima at the LFS the other day. That's the most I've ever spent on any one piece of livestock. It is by far the bluest clam I've ever seen though.

I didn't quit, I simplified.

the frustrating thing though is the clam is on $65 bucks ohmy.gif and supposedly 2.5-3.5"(which I'm guessing means 3") So I'd be paying 54% of the total cost just to get the clam into my tank! O.O I know I'm cheap in general, but this seems logically unreasonable to me...I mean $10 extra for outa Cali and then another $10 for the box.

clams direct's latest upload wasn't that spectacular.

I'm still waiting for a neon green maxima like the one on their front page. dry.gif

I'm cheap too. I either buy in bulk to absorb the shipping cost, or buy from a vendor that offers free shipping if you spend x amount of dollars.

To be honest, I didn't "buy" the $120 clam, I had some store credit that I used. If it would've been $120 out of my pocket then it would probably still be living at the LFS.

Just noticed why the shipping increase is so high....

*WE HAVE HAD TO ADJUST OUR SHIPPING COST DUE TO THE HIGHER FUEL COST.. A flat fee of $34.95 per box for CA residence and $$44.95 elsewhere in the United States.
*Note: Does not include $10 Box Charge - Hot & Cold Packs Are Free

Granted I've never gotten anything shipped from them but $10 seems a lot and something that should be included in the order. Also I can't see why higher fuel costs would effect their shipping unless FedEx has started to charge them more for each shipped package.

yeah well I got a yuma rock of 15+ red polyps for $40 so eat it Jake tongue.gif

poidog:
you and me both my friend. really like that green one they show on their homepage. Their order wasn't to spectacular but they started carrying morphs they don't usu have which I found the to be interesting. As far as this one, something about the patter and colour contrast just blows me away.
Jacobnano
Ya I just got them and I am going to do a water change tomorrow, then its hardcore testing time. I will probably have to dose which is a bummer, but they are worth it!

FBCF you find waaaay too many yumas...
FiReBrEaThInGCuTtLeFiSh!XD
I know and at ridiculous prices to tongue.gif Dude I need one of your orange ones though. Send ya one of the new reds, from certain angles they got a nice metallic green sheen to em. Also picked up a really cool shroom that changes from red/green/blue depending on the angel. Dat $hit is sick biggrin.gif
Jacobnano
Neato! I might have to make a trade, they grow pretty slow though.
FiReBrEaThInGCuTtLeFiSh!XD
depends on the individual.
The local I grabbed this one from had a quarter sized yuma her husband got her as a present grow to the size of a f%#*ing volleyball intwo years.
but yeah I'd trade you one or two quarter sized reds for one or two of yours equally sized.
Jacobnano
Ya I have like 4 babies, only two big ones. It might be a while lol
FiReBrEaThInGCuTtLeFiSh!XD
well then how bout one large and one small, lol.
kryptic4l

Don't get me wrong, I am very glad of the wide variety of inhabitants available to be shipped. when shipping gets to be almost half of a total purchase though...that's ridiculous, esp in a hobby that is as expensive as this one already is. I could always buy more products from them to offset that, but I don't have a lot of room in my 10 left, and my 45 isn't as matured as I would like it to be for a clam. If I got one locally, the only ones available are a $70 corcea around 2" max. or a Corcea for $40 having to drive over an hour, which I am not able to do. Whats upsetting is this guy is at a great price and then charging out the @$$ for shipping including box fees(and ironically free heating/ice packs) when I could get two clams from them at the same price.
