Hey all,
Bought some live rock and this was attached. I presume it's a clam of some sort, I occasionally see it's mouth opening. The pictures below are of it's rear (or back? not sure about clam anatomy). It is around 3 inches long with it's front (or mouth) cemented to the rock.
Firstly what is it, and secondly what do i do with it. Am keen to see it in all it's speldor as opposed to it's back. It's in a stock lighted Biocube 29. I am upgrading to double the output (4 light nanotuners upgrade) will this be enough? Should I try to move him or just leave him be? How big will he get?
Thanks in advance....

These clams are not light dependent. You could keep them in an unlit tank. They are filter feeders. I had some in my large reef that lasted about a year. I would stir my sand bed about twice a week and the clams would feed on the detritus. These clams will not open up like croceas, your picture shows the extent of about how much it will open. It probably won't grow. I would just let it be. Should it die your CUC will take care of it.
