OK... After I moved to Korea... I had setup a tank. But after a year of living in Korea, I needed to move again... so I took down the tank I had.

Here is the shot of the tank I actualy DIYed.

and here is the final shot of the tank before I took it down.

After I settled in a new home... of course I needed a nano-reef tank again.... since I kept just the tank itself, ditched everything else... I got a new stand and filled it with water!

and here is shot of light i will be using. I desigend it and my friend who has metal shop help me build it.

Remember my old pendent? Custom made?

And here is the new pendent! looks similar right? they are all rip-offs of ADA lights.
250W MH double ended.

I know these days everyone is talking about how cool T5HO is... but since i am old school kind of guy, I decided to stick with metal halide baby!

More to come!

Thanks for looking!

Ah, LED... I remember, while back, LED lighting was just comming on to the reef scene....
As I recall people were getting in debates on "if LED lighting was a viable option or not." I guess it is now.

Oceanbreeze: Thanks!!!!

OK, I finally did it. I was always intrigued about using ceramic rock. I remember, there was a product called Reef Ceramics. I saw them couple years back on zeovit.com. I wanted to buy it so much, I called every vendor, even called Germany to get my hands on some. But it wasn't available in US back then. When i was looking around sponsors link here at n-r.com, I found a place called aquariumspecialty.com. To my delight, they carried ceramic rock called Aquaroche. So i bought some, had it shipped to my house in US, and had my brother in-law ship it over to korea.
After a long wait and couple calls from Korean Customs asking me why the hell anyone would ship a pieces of rock, its in my tank!

As you can see I also puechased Tunze Nanostreams rock to hide 6045 I was planning to run. I think rock hides pump pretty well. I ran the cord behind the back wall cover and you can't even see it anymore! COOL!

Thanks for looking!
Sushi
lol, i can imagine the customs officials thinking "WTF?"

the rock wall certainly looks interesting... would make for a lot of surface area for frags to grow out on. are you set on that aquascaping? the hidden 6045 is pretty nice smile.gif

OK! I was actually thinking about leds for actinics and before, after halide. My PC on the tank now is just temp solution for cycling. Can you hook me up?

Sushi - Well I am gonna leave it like this thru the cycling. In my previous experience, I always end up taking rocks out to add frags since they come on rocks themselves. So.. for now...

pismo_reefer - Thanks!!!

Since I only have one piece of real live rock, and rest is dead-rock... it will polly take longer to cycle... we shall see....

Thanks!

I can certainly direct you in getting something set up. Looks like lots of room to work, and the open ends are a plus for airflow.

Hi everyone, well I hope the new LED technology is better. I was an early adopter of the technology and purchased one of the solaris systems about 2-3 years ago. It was the 250 watt equivalent. I loved that light and was one of the most vocal supporters to my friends. Anyway after a while my some of my light hungry corals were not doing as well. Details can be found below-post dated 9-23-09:

http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ledltgfaqs.htm

I still love the LED lights, I just think they are not perfect for all applications, at least not the system I had. By the way, I still using the damaged solaris on a new 20 gallon tank which will house softies, zoas and less light hungry corals. It's currently hosting 30 pounds of rock and lots of pods...plan on letting the rock sit for a few months (currently starting 2nd month) and see what comes out of it.

Cheers

Ah.. thanks for sharing that! One of my friend who has LED lighting system, is telling me its great for Softies, and LPS. It emits almost no heat, you can use it for 10years without worrying about changing any led. But he also had some doubts about keeping SPS from STN..... Well.. but then I hear some people is having great success! Well this sounds like every other questions about reefin isn't it? I guess when evil66 hooks me up, I will be able to tell if LED lighting works in "MY" tank.

I think my lighting schedule sequence will be

1. actinic
2. LED lighing.. white+blue
3. MH 250W
4. LED lighting
5. actinic

dtfleming - hmmm I wonder why you are not seeing any pics?

Thanks for reading!

Ok.. no tank thread is complete without "Cycling Diatom" shot.

Haha, its just a computer.... I was into computer case modding for awhile....

travisurfer: Hey! its nice to hear from you again!!!!!

OK, I hadn't posted in a while and my tank has progressed little bit. I lost charger for my camera so I took this full tank shot with point and shoot camera. Hard to capture all the colors but as soon as I find/buy charger I will take some individual shots.
