Hello all. Tomorrow my shipment from Premium Aquatics is supposed to arrive. I was wondering, however, if the temperature in my tank needs to be at the 78 for the live rock? I have a heater on the way from Marine Depot, but it won't be here until Friday. Thanks for the help.

Just checked and it's down to 69... still think it'll be alright? Thanks.

thats cold. just go to petco or something and get a tiny temporary one for like $10. or you could float some waterbottles with hot water in them (DON"T microwave tank water). or turn the lights on if you have those. or see if there is a local reefer close to you who can let you borrow one.
it won't be bad for the rock itself, but if there's any good hitch-hikers on the rock you wanna keep alive they won't be to happy

just go to Wal-Mart and buy one of those cheap 10 dollar smart heaters. they work good for backup and WC's

Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely stop somewhere and try and get a small cheapo. The $10 WalMart one is for aquariums?

something like this will work fine for a few days and will be around $10. has a built-in thermostat that will hold temp @78 +/- 1 degree. good for a temporary solution, which is what u need, but wouldn't trust it as a permenant solution (but since you have something else on the way not a problem)

I use the walmart one for WC's. it is set to a preset temp, 76-80 or so, works well for me
