Allright, I have this hefty piece of green nepthea in my 2.5 that needs a trimming. What's the best way to do this? The base I want to cut is pretty thick. Another problem is that I'm unable to take it out of my tank to cut it. I have it super glued/underwater epoxied really well into the tank. Am I going to have issues cutting it in the tank? I read that they can release toxins in the tank. Could I just siphon where I cut it to suck up any toxins? Any help would be appreciated. Here's a pic of it...

Not sure, but eventually I'll need to know this too...bump!

if you're worried about toxins, just cut it right before a water change. running carbon/chemipure/purigen will also take care of anything released. for fragging softies in my tank, i just use a pair of stainless steel cuticle scissors--fine tip, sharp blades. cuts right through the branches. very honestly you should be able to cut that thing at the main stalk and have it grow back in a few months. of course you can always trim branches off too.

I just fragged a finger leather which is close to the same thing in terms of fragging. I fragged the whole thing up, so I needed to remove it from the rock. I used a razor blade to slice leather off as close to the rock as possible. Any pieces left behind will regenerate over time so don't worry about scraping it off of the rock. Do have carbon running and a water change since you have so little water volume. Once the coral is off of the rock follow this:

I haven't tried the toothpick method myself yet. I just throw some rubble in a shot glass and put the frag on top of the rubble. The frag should attach within a week or so.
