i don't think it's actually halymenia because it doesn't have the orange tips...

I believe the orange tips come from lighting and conditions. Mine is solid red but every once in a while a piece will break off and float somewhere else, generally higher, there it develops the orange tips.

Now that I think about it, another piece that I have rests on a heater and grows orange anywhere near touching the heater...

Yeah I read on John's site (reefcleaner) that the macro's color will vary depending on the intensity and color of the light. Also I think like monticaps the new growth is lighter/different color to start. Like in the blue scroll it seems to be brown around new growth and blue in centers.

Damn glad I got my macro before I posted the link. Both the blue scroll and blue/green macros are now gone from la reefs. You guys are quick. The red branching, red palm and red grape are sweet as well. I picked those up a few weeks ago and they grow like crazy with my lights.

Hey just letting everyone know that LA Reefs has some of that blue scroll algae for sell. Blue Scroll Algae. I ordered some on Tue and got it yesterday. Pretty cool stuff.

How big is a "clipping"? Sounds kind of tiny...

I just shipped some 2-3" pieces about triple the size they've got pictured for $22 shipped (all out please no pm's), just trying to see if I'm too high or too low for next time.

That other algae is bad ass by the way, I thought it was a sponge? Brian from Fraggle Reef forwarded me some pics of a few he has and they're spectacular, but he said he bought them as sponges too. Either way, sponge or macro I've got a frag on hold!

The blue scroll clipping is about the size of a frag plug, so yeah small. The blue/green is cool, it is also a smaller clipping though. An lfs around here had some that looked kind of like it but gray in color that they said was a sponge as well.

Still need to find that other blue speckled algae you have.

Just ordered a frag of the Rare Pink Petals Predaea and the red string of pearls (not showing up since there was only one). I already ordered a frag of the predaea but it is like two tiny clippings and I put it in my main tank on a friday. I went camping over the weekend and when I came back it was gone. This time it is going in the frag tank.

Do the pink petals in person look like these? If so there's like 30+ square feet of them here...

Not quite, at least from the small pieces I had. The pink petals was a bright red/pink color. Also has rounded edges. That looks like red dictyota to me. I have a some crappy brown dictyota that actually has a nice blue hue to it under my phoenix 250. But it is starting to take over my 30g. Need to take the time to remove.
