Hey everyone, Thought I would post this up this is my progress on my diy stand as of tonight, taken me some of friday night saturday night and tonight to get this far. Keep in mind, I have never built anything in my life. So i have no previous experience, just going off plans found on the net, and winging the rest.

Its for a 24x24 x 18 cube. the stand measures 2 ft x 3 feet.

For having never built anything before, you've got some nice tools! I like the corner clamp.... that would certainly come in handy for a lot of my projects!

Looking good so far. I like the corner clamp as well, where did you get it. Great job for a first time.

haha, militant jurist, your post exactly mirrored mine...down to the clamp!

It looks like you've got a nice stand in the works.

Some lag or carriage bolts would make it beefy. wink.gif

Very nice. I love the DIY stands.

Overbuilt, IME. Also I would have driven the nails from the inside out, that would avoid the heads from showing. If you are gonna cover with some paneling etc. it wont matter though.

well, from what ive been reading, over built ? with 1x4's ? for a 40 gallon, ive read that around 55 gallons you should goto 2x4's smile.gif

anywho, this stand is not getting stained, as i really fail with the skill saw and its my first build so there was some wood filler involed etc... so ive primed it twice already and have the first coat of paint on as of tonight.

Thanks everyone for the support smile.gif Sorry ive been holding out one the picture's but recently ive barely had time to work on it let alone take picture's. So hopefully i will take some soon, outside is purple inside is black.

work left to be done right now

- find some trim to hide my building skills
- second coat of paint
-sealer

paint or stain the trim

cut 3 holes 2 for the over flow 1 for the return 2 more holes for fans -------- and a bunch more... wink.gif

I like the color.

From my count there is 10x 1x4 and 12x 1x1?.

I wonder if the middle brace is needed. Anyone have experience with this?

I guess I should ask what the length is first....

The middle brace I put in as an extra measure due to the fact its a 2 ft by 2 ft tank , but the stand is 3 ft by 2 feet

new pics up again tonight as well.

Whacked
Finally, someone that put some thought into their stand smile.gif
Nice to see a small tank stand NOT built from 2x4 or larger material.

+1 to seeing how it looks inside your home.

should of made this earlier, as painting is merly drying time. so back to square one going to stain and do touch up on the purple tonight. then clear coat this week
