Would it leach anything into the water that could be harmful or should i go to my LFS and see if they have any aquamend or something. Could it cure in water? I just got some frags and want to secure the plugs to my LR and didn't know what to get.

I had the same dilemma this morning, googling around says that Aquamend was the best alternative out there but that is not carried by Lowes or HD anymore.

I saw some posts on other forums saying they were able to use Mighty putty and Loctite with no ill effects.

Personally, I ended up not risking the health of the whole tank (especially with a nano/pico) and went to the LFS to buy some Holdfast. I don't think the risk of putting something there that leeches metals is worth the $8 savings.

But if I were to guess, if the putty is safe for potable water usage, then I guess that's your best bet.

So i guess I'll take a trip to the LFS and go with the safe route. Thanks fr the quick reply. Risking my tank (like you said) is not something I want to do.

if you're talking about the billy mays stuff i use it and it works fine

You know that stuff in the clear tube with the red plastic endcaps at the lfs? Well you can buy the exact same stuff at HD for a quarter the cost in the plumbing section. I swear a lot of companiesbuy that stuff and slip a new photocopied label in the tube. I've been usin that n loctite for years on everything from 3g pico to me 90G. Hell my pico had almost a full tube of it holdin the rockwork together.

One tip: mix in some sand with it, will look better.

On the sand tip, I apply the putty, then apply the sand to the outside, just push it into the epoxy so it holds, and it looks a lot better.
