Then: hi, we're the AARP. we cannot reform social security, that would hurt seniors. the current plan isn't perfect but it only needs a few tweaks.

Now: oh hi, we're the AARP again. let's totally reform healthcare completely, including cuts to medicare (sorry seniors).

This is what I think of every time I hear about the AARP:

hi, by the way. i've been lurking and enjoying your threads for a bit.

Hello! Glad you finally posted then! Lurkers/stalkers are much more fun when they are expressive. tongue.gif

Well, it looks like I finally have to bite the bullet and get new bulbs. My plan is to simply replace the bulbs with the same ones (2x ATI Blue +, 1x ATI Aquablue Special, 1x KZ Fiji Purple). However, if anyone has an alternative suggestion, let me know! I'm probably going to order tomorrow, to hopefully get them by Friday or Monday.
got2envy
That sounds like a great combo!
I have 2x blue plus, 1x super actinic and 1x aquablue on my 28g smile.gif
I bought the fiji purple in place of the actinic but decided to use that on my contest tank happy.gif
DHaut
i have 2 white and 2 blue bulbs. i dunno what they are.

Which combo (fiji or super) do you like better on the 28? My only concern with dropping a white/purple bulb for a super actinic is the loss of PAR. A 29 seems a bit deep for only one white bulb... or is it?

laugh.gif I'm amazed you have any bulbs? I thought your fusion reactor's ambient lighting provided all of the PAR your tank needed.
DHaut
nah, that ambient stuff just give me a nice tan. though i can't figure out why my urine glows in the dark...
got2envy
I had the same combo on the 29g (super actinic)...I would stick with the fiji on the 29g instead of the actinic, I had all my SPS in the middle to upper shelves of my 29.

Hm.... that is indeed a conundrum. Maybe you have the recyclers set too low. Fusion isn't supposed to produce much excess radiation or waste. That's what you get from buying second-hand from the North Koreans through the Iranians.

Hm.... since I have SPS all the way at the bottom, looks like Fiji it is. I guess I should put that order in today. Thanks for the input! happy.gif

Haha. Well, that's until you have children that start growing squid tentacles and attempt to take over the world.

Today's work is fun.... I'm doing RICO research. cool.gif

Haha it's alright. The Barrel seems to go in spurts anymore anyways. Dad's doing really well. He's off all of the insulin, etc, and he's getting his energy back. He's doing PT now, and apparently blowing away all of the scores. We've been out golfing a few times, and it looks like his only big hurdle is stress management.
bitts
Awesome about dad.

As to bulbs. That set you have 2xblue+, fiji, special. Is what I have over my lps & though its way better than the pc setup I had. Judging from how the lps are reacting at about 8"-10" you may want more par. Maby a ge 6500 weets would know far more than me though.

Possibly from the WL initiation naked East River swim? huh.gif

Just a guess, just a guess. happy.gif

I agree with bitts. Great to hear Dad is doing well.

Time to throw out the Weetie signal:

Hm... two votes for more PAR. Looks like I'd better check to see if AquaCave has a GE6500.

One other thought. I use to keep clams under pc so if you like the color maybe it would work. A lot of the time I think its the coral more than the lights.
Weetabix7
Wait, what???
Oh, hi there.
The combo you have now is a great one.
If you really want a GE 6500, I would say do 2 ATI Blue+, 1 GE 6500 and one UVL Indigo Sun.
It's still kind of a 14k look, but with much warmer tones than the combo you have now.
Both are good ones though.

Hm.... I suppose that maybe I should go with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it approach then. I've never played with other bulbs, so I suppose I don't know how thing would react. I know how they've reacted to these bulbs though. wink.gif

Thanks Weetie!

Ok, I finally ordered the new bulbs from Aquacave. I went with the replacements for the bulbs that I have, rather than change anything up. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled shenanigans.

Fixed this for them:

I recall a few or so days ago, DH posted the view from his office. Well, my office doesn't have much of a view, so I thought I'd post a view of my office. wink.gif

Here's another picture, this one of my cat. She decided to gather most of her toys, and then lay down with them to bask in their glory. biggrin.gif

Not too bad for cell phone pics, eh? I took these while playing with my new Droid Incredible.

Cute kitty. One of mine looks like that, and loves to gather her toys into a pile too.

laugh.gif She usually doesn't, but it was pretty fun. She doesn't actually play with the green mice, but she has to have them. Every night, at least one of them makes it up to my bedroom, but she'll drop it right away. Then, after I wake up in the morning, she'll carry them downstairs, where they'll lay until the night.

So I've gotta give it to Aquacave. I ordered new bulbs on the 29th, and they were at my door yesterday. A big thumbs down to UPS, because it looks like they played kick the can with the box. There's a few signs that the box was pretty well crushed.

Might as well have been labeled "Fragile: Handle with Reckless Disregard."

However, in another thumbs up to Aquacave, they wrapped the bulbs like nothing else. They were practically death-gripped within the ULINE sheath, and then the sheath was heavily wrapped itself. The bulbs appear to be no worse for the wear. They go in tonight, so we'll find out then.

On the lights front, I still haven't fixed the blue bulbs turning off when the fixture is jostled. I think I figured it out last night though: I think that one end cap is a bit loose, and so making a bad connection. I may have to track down a new one. I may just re-wire the entire thing with new wire and new end caps. If that doesn't fix it....

Then again, maybe it was just the bulbs.

I'm also going to be doing some zoa, trumpet, and frog fragging soon. However, I have no idea how to price them. Here's pictures of the corals I intend to frag (these are old "file photos"):

Frog and Trumpet:

Any suggestions on prices? I'll probably do 3 to 5 polyp frags of the zoas, and single or double head frags of the frog and trumpet.
DHaut
damn look at that flame and frogspawn!

The picture above was from May. This is from February:

Looks like I could have three sales in one week's time. Pretty nice!

How far back did you butcher yours? Mine's attached itself to a new little piece of rock, so I'm thinking about cutting it from the main macro and letting it grow out separately. Should have much more growth over all that way, right?
DHaut
I usually do a 4" cut for $30. But you know me...I'm pretty generous. smile.gif

I've been doing a 2" cut for $10, but then I'll toss in a couple of extra pieces as freebies. Who knew that red could be so green?

I have absolutely no idea what to sell coral frags for though. I think frogspawn usually goes for $10/head around here, and maybe I'll do the same for the trumpet. As for the zoas, maybe $10 for 3 to 5 polyps of most of the zoas, and $15 for 3 to 5 polyps of mah Gooberz. How does that sound?
pismo_reefer
Jeebus MJ!!!!

That box was fawked up!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiice tank.....!!!!! omgomgomgomg
Militant Jurist
Haha yeah. It would be fun if there was a camera attached to it, to see what the poor box went through! laugh.gif

That picture of the tank is a bit old, but I'm hoping to have fresh pictures soon. I need to change the bulbs and clean the glass, and then a picture will be forthcoming!
DHaut

Militant Jurist
Just got back in late last night from my trip to St. Kitts. I was a fantastic trip, and in some ways, it was even better than I thought it might be. I'm still recovering from the flight yesterday and all of the drama associated with it, but here are a few photos from my trip:

Nevis island off in the distance

An island double-wide

Giant hog at Cockleshell Beach

View from Shipwreck

Rawlins Plantation

The evil monkey (it monkey slapped my g/f's sister)

I took 20+ pictures with an underwater camera while out snorkeling. I'm getting them developed, but I hope that they will show the urchins, wrasses, large angels, a small sea fan, and who knows what else that I saw under water. happy.gif
DHaut
yeah yeah...so how's the vet?
