Thanks! That shot is my favorite too... so much coolness snapped in one frame! If you look close at the last picture though, you can spot three fish.

I see the blenny and the bass and possibly something over on the bottomish ( ) right corner.

Yup! That's the (difficult to photograph) sixline. I was amazed that I could get all three together in the same area. I put him in yesterday, and he immediately seemed to be friendly with the current crew. He was a bit nervous, and was darting among the rocks, but he was willing to come out and swim a bit with the blenny and bass.

Thanks! With everything going on, what little reefing time I had was going to feeding each tank, and working a bit on the 75. So the 29 was essentially on autopilot for a while. That should be changing though.

Yeah, I really like the chalk bass. I like him so much that I'm considering a pair (or maybe a trio? ) for the 75. They are very cool as they prowl the tank, and he goes into a feeding frenzy when the Rod's Food hits the water. Him and the starry lunge at it and go to town!

Looking good! Hooray for the mini nem! He looks fat and healthy. And that algae is growing like crazy for you. Awesome.

Also, the AOGs look good too! Have you noticed any change with the new reefcleaners food? My AOGs are exploding right now, seriously.

Thanks! The mini has been happy lately. He's been in that same spot for quite a while now. Would you say he's getting to about full size? The flame algae has been insane! The other algae seems to be growing outwards more, but several sections are covered in coralline. Normal?




Mine look like they are about to pop a new polyp soon. I've only fed the RC food a few times, so it's hard to tell yet. The gorg in the 75 is looking awesome, but it fell of its rock, and I'm out of superglue. It's a bit POd from it's frequent moves, but each day, it's got all polyps out! I'm hoping to get a few things sorted out this weekend, so that I can get started on a more regular feeding routine.

yeah, the halimeda is calcified so it's easy for coralline to grow on it. I think it looks cool. it'll be fine though. the nem will get a bit bigger and split if you're feeding it a lot. watch it next to that SPS though - it will sting it.

Good to know about the halimeda! I had noticed it before, but the pictures showed just how much coralline had grown on it recently. I've actually stopped spot feeding the mini for now, because I was worried about him splitting so close to the little slimer. Any suggestions on getting him to move over a pinch?

I'm tellin ya the chalk bass I have is just like a fresh water bass. Will hit the top of the water feeding and bounce off the pond net back into the water. They eat like they haven't eaten in a year!
Has yours set up house in the sand bed yet? Mine has a hidey hole under some rock covered in zoanthids. He sits in the hole and peers out to see what is going on.

Mine's not quite that bad yet. I haven't seen him mess with the sand yet, but he does kind of have a house. He loves to take up residence in the cave, just to the right of the flame algae. It's got a large entrance in front, and a smaller exit on the back side of the tank, so he can come and go as he pleases.



Any suggestions on how? The only thing that comes to mind is to place a shim or two over the top of the tank, between the light and the water, over the mini.

I just hope he moves in the right direction!

worst case you can pop that epoxy off and move the slimer. or, just take some plastic and slide it in between the nem and the acro and try to shade the nem a bit.

Both good ideas! I've been thinking of moving something to the left side of the tank anyways, so maybe that slimer will be the first candidate! I really don't need two different slimers in the same area anyways.

It's a tri-color, or at least that's what I was told. I was also told that the skinny stick between the two slimers was also a tri-color. Maybe tri-colors can be different colors, I suppose. Either way, I really like it!

inorite? I got this as a mini-colony when a local reefer was breaking down a tank to prepare for a move. I think it was $15 or 20. I want to give it a while longer before fragging, because it really hasn't made much of an effort to encrust the base. Once I start seeing some progress in that front, I might give it a little trim. I'll save you frag! Maybe we can do a tri-color for cool macro swap.

That's pretty much exactly what I'm doing right now. Thankfully, I have plenty to do today at work, and a ...um.... "special guest" is supposed to be coming to visit me for most of the day on Saturday, so I've got a lot of cleaning, etc to do tonight.

I don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight though, and the results are out first thing tomorrow morning.
